New Yorkers have become immune to the deaths of blacks in that city! It's business as usual. The laws for the officers and their use of force are so terrible and NO ONE ever has to answer for it.

Why were they putting him in a choke hold in the first place? I didn't follow this case closely someone hip me to game

he was known for selling untaxed cigs..

they approached him and he supposedly got angry and told them they're always harassing him, cops tried to restrain and arrest him, he didn't comply but didn't fight, choke hold, dropped him, they arrested him, he said he couldn't breathe and he died on scene..

For selling untaxed cigarettes

Suspicion of selling untaxed cigarettes. Plus he didn't have any cigarettes on him. Just plain old harassment because they've busted him for it before and probably in that same spot so they tried their luck and killed him in the process.

to be honest....I have been numb to black police brutality in this case and early on in that ferguson case...I did not watch this vid of eric garner until yesterday when I heard its going to grand jury....

early on here I saw the headline of mike brown on here and didnt click it b/c it happens tooooo often and its routine now

The death has been ruled a homicide

they have video evidence implicating the cops

this is an open and shut case

The death was ruled a homicide...by an employee of the state. The same state that employs the murder. Stay tuned on that one.

They have video evidence implicating the cops...just like the video evidence they had showing the cops beating the shit out of Rodney King.

After the acquittals and the riots, the United States Department of Justice sought indictments for violations of King's civil rights. "On May 7, federal prosecutors began presenting evidence to a Los Angeles [federal] grand jury. On August 4, the grand jury returned indictments against the three officers for '...willfully and intentionally using unreasonable force...' and against Sergeant Koon for '...willfully permitting and failing to take action to stop the unlawful assault...' on King." Based on these indictments a trial of the four officers in the United States District Court for the Central District of California began on February 25, 1993. The federal trial focused more on the evidence as to the training of officers instead of just relying on the videotape of the incident. On March 9 of the 1993 trial, King took the witness stand and described to the jury the events as he remembered them. The jury found Officer Laurence Powell and Sergeant Stacey Koon guilty, and they were subsequently sentenced to 32 months in prison, while Timothy Wind and Theodore Briseno were acquitted of all charges.

The Rodney case wasn't butchered too badly, two of the cops ended up doing time, although the sentences were light

It's possible these cops will be found guilty of homicide

AND, WHO GIVES A FUCK! This is the bullshit I'm talking about. WHAT THE FUCK WAS HE DOING THAT DAY AT THAT TIME?! Nothing to warrant being fucked with. Bullshit NYC STOP AND FRISK! You're sounding like a fucking reporter talking about his prior arrest when they have NOTHING to do with the matter at hand.

Read my prior statement in it's entirety!

It's possible that a lot of shit could happen. Anything is possible. I'm talking about - when comparing this case to other cases of similar circumstance - the actual probability that justice is served. You for some reason seem to think that it's a foregone conclusion that justice is served. I still struggle to see why anyone could feel like that, given the history of these things.

I never said that

The evidence is clear as day though

Whether or not a jury wants to admit that is an entirely different issue

Also it seemed as though you were saying the cops responsible for Rodney's injuries were never punished, which is not the case

30 prior arrests???

30??

that number is extremely telling.

because if you got 30 arrests and walking the streets... it's not even an assumption to say that most of them arrests were minor shits.....not to mention it has to be impossible to get any job with that kind of arrest record....

so if you got 30 arrests..can't get a job..and have to resort to selling cigarettes just for pocket change....

i'd get irritated with the police always fucking with me too...especially if i wasn't doing nothing at the time....

dude was expressing extreme frustration...and as understandably frustrated as he was...he never once presented a threat that called for lethal force.......

So when yall go take out the people in charge?

Yall put them in power yet yall let them dictate your survival.

Unite and fight.

Death is the only payoff in a revolution
