The racial fight over Egypt is kinda stupid really. Race wasn't seen in those times as it is now. This revelation isn't isolated to Egypt either. It goes for European empires too. The Roman empire is always portrayed as being full of nothing but white people and maybe some slaves of other races. In reality, Rome didn't so much conquer lands as it forcefully brought them under its fold. They might sound like the same thing until you take into account the fact that the people of the lands they took in were considered Roman citizens and were allowed to rule themselves and operate as they always had with the added caveat of having to pay Rome a tax. Being that those people were Roman citizens they had the right to move and settle anywhere in the Roman empire that they wanted, so cities like Rome were probably a lot more racially diverse than they are portrayed. The recent Spartacus series probably had it right, at least moreso than some of the more classic movies.

This. Rome even had at least 2 black emperors. Here's a bust of Septimus Severus who ruled from 193-211.

He was born in Africa and was of Libyan/Syrian descent. The marble busts of the emperors were also painted back then so that probably would have shown better. Was he full black? Eh possibly, and possibly not. He was most likely a person of color though, considering his mom also was at least mixed with something.

Here's a book that got decent reviews.

Besides him there were many great Roman generals that were also most likely people of color. The general depiction of Romans as just british guys needs to end, because it really was a multicultural empire. You had your Italians, your north Africans, your egyptians, your Greeks, your Celts/ Germans and your middle easterners serving in a legion. Whites, browns, and blacks all served. Hell when the Huns came over some were even Foederati so most likely a very small amount of asians.

aight maybe im blind, but he looks more white to me than blacc

Italians are a nationality and yes between Hannibal and the Moors, many have Negro ancestry in them.

I never understood the pride African Americans have in Egypt given that none of us have any relation to those niggas.

The three largest European ancestry groups are Irish, German and British....in other words, barbarians. That's what the Romans and Greeks called them thousands of years ago. They have NO connection to Mediterranean civilizations but, they claim Rome/Greece anyway. Don't let no one tell you you can't do the same. King Tut and his family clustered with Tropical West Africans....so we share ancestors.....Africans migrated and moved across the continent....who would have guessed it...
