Very informative video! He breaks down how the business model has changed, how radio makes money, why Kiss FM failed, why underground rappers don't get played, why west coast and NY rappers get no love. Talks about why mainstream producers don't help out underground rappers.

Payola does exist, he must think we are stupid, you can Google it, i'm too lazy to cite it.

But the rest of what he said makes sense.

We are getting some where, this culture needs this kind of dialogue. Dope Ass Interview. Its definitely worth investing an hour, its very insightful.

Hip Hop always turns it's back on our stars unless they're struggling - Ebro. That is a Jewel and what niggas do around hear all day.

I listened to this the other day... After the interview I had a new found respect for Ebro.. He started the dialogue.. Hopefully rappers from the City take heed and start making music everyone can enjoy because like Ebro said.. The NY market is very small.. NY, NJ, Connecticut... Whereas someone from Miami might get the hole south to support their music... The playing field has changed.. And the rappers need to adapt...

Yeah he was dropping Jewels the whole interview.

yea he really came correct.....although he mightve left out the Boston/Providence market he's correct about the ny market being small....My thing is that there are so many people in the market, that I these cats should get a lil support....Like I said in the last thread, everybody sees what it takes to be in the mainstream, either you get with it or be left out.....Until that different sound becomes popular this is what it is.....I do feel that the djs can take a few risks during their 5 hour shows.....2 records wont hurt

To be honest. This will further prove why mainstream Hip Hop is not the only way. Even tho people are Zombies their not robots. And the people who actually buy records don't want the same shit over and over. Radio is dead and record labels are lost. You can live good and out the hood if u grind right independently.

Great point, when I get an album I NEVER listen to whatever the single was.

Or niggas need to learn how to make music that bridge the gap between mainstream and underground like kanye, jay, big, etc did.

You always name the same 4 people those were the exceptions not the rules. And to be honest timing played a huge part in all of their careers not just the music.

Andre 3000, kendrick, j Cole, game, 50 cent, etc. Lots of niggas who started underground. One thing they all got in common is they know how to write record.

Yea Hey Ya really showed kids in the suburbs about the underground in a catchy way.

Kendrick is a gem

J Cole how is Miss America doing?

50 did his own thing and Em fans ate it up when he tried to appeal (Candy Shop) that's when his popularity got tiny.

Game was only rapping for like 10 months what underground? Plus 50 blessed him with 2 bangas.

How is Miss America doing, I'm sorry I wasn't aware it was released for commercial purpose. When the radio joint drops then u can say something. Game had a mixtape that hot him signed. Just admit most these underground niggas aren't stars or can't make the right records to crossover
