ITS A GOOD ALBUM W/ CLASSIC MATERIAL & SONGS...

A COUPLE CLASSIC SONGS DON'T MAKE A CLASSIC ALBUM THO...

4/5 FOR ME...

I remember when it was out. I was a sophomore in high school. Eazy had a buzz because his videos were on Yo! MTV Raps and his sound was different from the cats coming out of NYC.

Here's the video that got played when the album that first dropped. There's a scene @ 4:23 when he jumps out of the screen onto the stage. It might look low budget now but at the time it was the freshest thing we had ever seen. Everybody was talking about how dope it was when he jumped out of the screen.

But yeah, the album was a classic in a year where classics were dropping left and right. There must have been at least 10 classic albums in 1988.

@Stew This album definitely belongs in The Vault

I remember when the Album dropped the hood went nuts, Kats were still hooking up House Speakers in their Trunks so they could have a bumping system before the shit got affordable for Car audio. I remember this one dude had the house speakers still in the box in the back of a Maroon Pontiac Catalina rattling like a mother fucker with the trunk Closed and he would park at the park by the basketball court and open his trunk up and stand up the speakers bumping this shit. Damn back in the day shit was so much more innovative Kats made it happen with what they had...

The year after it dropped my moms bought a brand new 1990 Ford Tempo 4 door in platinum right after my homecoming dance. Us seniors would get together for senior outings every few weeks and the very next week after my moms brought the ride home was one of our outings. She let me get the keys that night and I went out to the garage and slipped a house speaker we had in there into the back seat. Ran up to my room and snuck my speaker wire out and rolled around the block and hooked up the speaker to one of the car's rear speakers. Nigga had some hump that night off the factory Ford cassette deck. I had Eazy Duz It, King Tee's Act A Fool, The DOC's single for "It's Funky Enough", The Great Adventure's of Slick Rick, Strictly Business, and a couple of Wizard tapes with me that night and I scooped up my homie Ant (RIP) and we rolled out bumpin all that shit out the house speaker.

The foam over the grille left particles all over the back seat. My lil sis got in and complained about it. Moms came and questioned me about it and I ended up tellin her what I did. I was grounded from touching her car for a week...

... didn't matter. I owned a blue '81 Escort and a champagne '83 Escort back then. Matter of fact, I used to swipe a pair of my stepfather's old speakers and hook 'em up to the lil Kraco tape deck and Sparkomatic amplifier I had in the '83 Escort. King Tee "Bass" used to shake the shit outta my rearview every time I did that shit.
