People listen to rap music for different reasons. Some want to move/dance, some want to be motivated, some want to learn, some want to appreciate the artistry/poetic abilities, some just want to hear a beat and rhymes and don't care what is being said. Many of us fit into more than one of those categories, but we emphasize one more than the other. So I wouldn't call the music you listen to bad if you like to listen to less lyrical MC's, because you may gravitate more toward something that makes you dance. But I will call it wack if the content is filled with stereotypical ignorance, hypocrisy, or things that I would consider ridiculous. I think many people nowadays fall in the "I just want to hear a beat and rhymes and don't care what is being said" category, as well as the "just want to dance" category. I believe this is one of the major factors in the generational gap/misunderstanding among hip hop fans. I could get into that more, but I'm thinking about making a thread on that topic.
I listen to Styles P. He's a knowledgeable/decent guy when he wants to be. You just have to pick and choose what you accept from him. Gangster and a Gentleman truly describes him. I listen to the "gentleman" side more, b/c he addresses social issues (I'm Black, Testify, Thrill is Gone, Stop Look & Listen, etc.). I can't really mess with the extra violent Styles P. So he makes some bad music and some good music.
