why ya'll crying saying ny hate the south we don't hate the south we just wack shit period. look at dudes like shorty lo he's wack but he got good beats but yet ya'll support his wack ass knowing he can't rap then say the south running shit. ya'll support wack niccas. In Ny if you wack you don't get that love or respect. Like maino he got good beats but dude is wack. no body bumpin that shit. If a east vs south would happen and was kept clean and on wax the south would have to wake up out that fairy tale. ya'll got some dudes but ya'll just like the east you name your OG's outkast and scarface like we'll say jay and nas. I wish a new battle would pop off i wanna see what the south really got. everybody gotta show and prove at some point and time. i wanna see what ya'll got. how many would put they money on wacka or gucci vs red cafe and papoose. I got my money on red and pap and that's low level ny

foh with that shit man. yall act like up north niggas dont support wack shit. Look at 50. This nigga been wack as fuck for about 3-4 years now yet some of yall niggas still look at this man like he running the game or something. That Ross and 50 beef showed that as long as we keep making good music down south aint nothing yall hating ass bitches can do but talk shit. NEW YORK HIP HOP BEEN DEAD

He dont get love in NY contrary to popular belief, most of his fans are suburban wiggers who still believe he was shot 9 times.

I dont see where they were hating. They gave them dudes respect for getting there money and that its a generation that likes that type of music. They showed love to Scarface so how this hating on the south. What I got outta of the interview is that people just aint putting no thought in their music, no feeling and get no feeling. When you hear an artist say you know what fuck I do this dont care how it come out and it sales....fuck it. People really should think about that when they go and buy a cd (for those that still do) or pay ya money to look at these concerts.... They aint putting no feeling no meaning behind the words but just throwing a line and hoping somebody bites. You talk about old artist hating. You look at Bun B, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Timbaland Jay Z. These are artist/producers that I know that dont have to create music anymore but love what they do. That love pleasing they fans. I mean Jay everyone know this dude got money. He aint gotta rap no more but choose to for his fans..

I agree with what they are saying 100%.

you dont have to be a "canibus" on a "down south" instrumental... but at least put some effort when it comes to being lyrical.
dont just write some simple shit to it. this is RAP MUSIC... this is what makes it different from the other music genres. rep it right or leave it the fuck alone.
that is why T.I., Luda, Wayne, Bun B and a few others get the respect when it comes to showcasing the skills of emceeing.

I say this all the time, you do not deserve to be called a "rap artist" if you cannot construct a decent rhyme. black and white, simple as that.
at least come clean and admit that you have ghostwriters, aight cool... then you must be either the CEO of your label or a producer like Dr. Dre, Jermaine Dupri, Diddy if rapping isn't quite your forte.

I cannot believe people will actually vouch for these dudes and except this fuckery... like for real yo?

^^ who the hell said that?

no you don't, but that doesnt mean you cannot put in effort to write a decent rhyme. so what are you on about?

first they weren't even hating on the south its funny how when some says something about a wack artist u automatically think they are hating on the south but theyre not. I mean they gave love to nelly. I agree with most of what they are talking about you got dudes with absolutely no skill lyrically and with out lyrics u wont last a long time. If you looks at it dudes with no skill last about 2-3 years then disappear but the lyrical dudes will always last in the game

Then shut the fuck up and let the nigga get his money

you dont need to be complex but u cant not have skill lyrically and be in the game. bc then u bring unneeded hate to rap bc u got these dudes with elementary rhymes

NY does not support wack shit. They've always dissed it and been against it. They disown their own kind if they are wack. Which is something they've always done. Bottom line, nobody is hating on the South. They just disowning the wack music. And I do not blame them. Nobody has to accept garbage, just because it's fed to us. Problem is, the South has lyrical artist that people will like and accept. However, you guys choose to support the bullshit. And act like the world has to like it, just because it come from there. That's not hate it's constructive critisizing.

LMAO @ you using 50 an example of getting love in NY. That man is not loved in NY. They hate him and disown him there too. Again, New York is not a bunch of bitter haters, like the city is being portrayed. Trust, I been on all sides of the country. And the New York haterisum is a huge exaggeration. And this is coming from a California head who's been there. The reason I dislike the "new" South. Man, my daddy is from the South (Baton Rouge, Louisiana, so he's a real country boy). And even he doesn't like the way these young kids are representing the South. With their overdone and exaggerated southern accents and silly lil dances with raggidy gold and diamonds in their mouth. He shakes his head at that shit. Because that an't the South he came from.

There's a lot of wack West Coast rappers. But that doesn't mean I have to support them and like them, just because they come from where I come from. I never did like 2 Pac, but people swear I'm suppose to be a super stan of dude, just because they bumped him up to icon status after his death. I was never a fan of that man when he was alive, and I'll never be one even though he's dead. And I can't stand Snoop either. My folks on the West are baffled as to why I don't like them. I just don't. Leave me to my opinion.

Bottom line. Nobody is hating on the South (I wish y'all would stop bitching and crying about hate that ain't really even there). Maybe if you stop supporting and pushing your set of wack artist on the world, and start supporting dudes like Jay Electronica (who by the way had to come to NY to get buzz and had to rap like them to get noticed, and had to work with an East Coast producer, because New Orleans was not accepting him), just maybe that criticism would change.

Let me leave it at this. Wacka Flacka is a wack ass rapper. Point blank period. It's got nothing to do with him being from the South. If you're wack and non-talented, then you're wack and non-talented. And nothing is going to change that. It's got nothing to do with region.

Signed, T Monroe
A California head. By way of Wisconsin/Chicago, Louisiana, California, and New York.

Yo somebody show me where it says you gotta have complex wordplay and a dictionary on hand to be a rapper?

I can't actually show you, but lemme give you a few examples of how lyrical skill is relevant to the game.

1. If you take it back to the late 70's/early 80's, Busy Bee vs. KMD era, was it not about who was a better rapper lyrically? Matter of fact, if you listen to the first jab in that battle, you will hear KMD say "how many of y'all think Busy Bee (who was very lyrically basic, but a crowd mover/pleaser) can rap, rock the house? But when it comes to havin' rhymes nobody can fuck around". Then he begins to tear him down, not only by dissing him, but lyrically, with wordplay. Take a listen.

2. Onto the 80's. Everyone's favorite group, Run-DMC, who were never as lyrical as say KMD, but still repped hard were killin' it from 82 - 86, but then your Rakim's, Kool G. Rap's, Slick Rick's, KRS's, and BDK's stepped on the scene, and kinda took the shine away from Run-DMC. Why... LYRICS. To the point that where when they released Tougher Than Leather, a follow up to their biggest album Raisin' Hell, Run definitely tried stepping it up lyrically with multi-syllabled rhymes Like Rakim. Before Rakim. After Rakim

3. Into the 90's. Think of all the dominant stars of this era. Nas, Notorious BIG, Ice Cube, Redman, Snoop, Wu-Tang, OutKast, Naughty By Nature, Scarface, Jay-Z, Tupac, etc. What do they all have in common? LYRICS. Think of some of the lesser known talents of the 90's. Cats who weren't mainstream, but if you were a hip hop fan, you've definitely heard of them. Mobb Deep, MC Eiht, UGK, CNN, Black Moon, Das EFX, CL Smooth, Kam, Common, etc. What did all of these emcees have in common? LYRICS.

4. Onto the 2000's. Some of the best emcees of this era IMO, Ludacris, The Game, Lloyd Banks T.I., Eminem, Fabolous, 50 Cent (who don't be fooled by recent albums/songs, can get busy lyrically if he wants to, but knows lyrics don't always equate to sales. Want proof? Here. Here's further proof). All have LYRICS.

5. Now we're spoon-fed Lil Wayne (who if you listen, is not a great lyricist), Drake (who IMO has lyrically shown he's better than his boss), Gucci Mane (FOH), Soulja Boy (who uses the excuse "I'm only 16-17 so I don't need lyrics", forgetting Special Ed did his thing at that age, and Eric B. is President/My Melody was written by a 17 year old Rakim), OJ Da Juiceman (What?!?), Waka Flocka (Who?!?), Ace Hood (FOH), and a whole buncha talentless lames.

Are you really going to compare wacka flocka to 50 cent?

The South killed hip hop. You have some decent artists, but themajority are fucking WACK.

Interesting how this board works. When Flocka takes a direct shot at emcees who are driven by lyrics across the nation (including those in the South), most of you here co-signed that. Yet when these guys make a point and opinion which doesn't hate the South but criticize the landscape and the fact dudes don't spit with feeling and even admit that they don't need lyrics because they know the fanbase don't want it (which is reflective of the fanbase and its inability to want anything beyond club music), you call it hating. These dudes were dead on and they gave props to dudes who can spit and used examples of originality and whatnot. Fact is, these guys ain't like that. They are talentless hacks who are carried by beats and a watered down fanbase who is told what is hot due to Payola and oversaturation of concept by the Big 5. This was NOT hate and those of you who took it as such are sensitive. So get off your Ralphy T kick and stop defending the wackness from your area.

is that all bitter east coast niggas do is make you tube videos complaning about hip hop. stop crying. get a buzz. get money cause thats what it all boils down to.

and also ny needs to stop worrying about the south. we are here to stay. we not letting the game go.so u motherfuckers are waisting stress and time hating on us. worry about NYC right now. worry about jay z jumping on snoop records and puffy jumping on waka records. worry about the support system for your own artists. the same radio station that meth and these niggas are crying on i am more than sure wont play any cuts from their new album. NY needs to deal with the many problems at home before they can do finger pointing at the south. if it wasnt for the south in the past decade alot of those major labels would be belly up. the south didnt kill hip hop. if anything we are living examples of how hip hop only lives through a grassrooot campaign of pure determination and grind.

everyone in NY kisses Jay Z and Puffy ass. why would you praise these so called leaders of hip hop that do nothing to contribute back to the state where it was formed at? yall couldnt even save the bldg on sedwick the mecca of hip hop. new york does nothing for hip hop nowadays. NY doesnt even have its own idenity anymore. all NY is about is blaming everyone but their selves for their lack of impact in hip hop in the past 10 years.

Yet all this has nothing to do with the lack of quality of music the south has been producing lately from these new cats OJ Da Juicman, Waka flocka, Gucci Mane are garbage.
