TBH I have not listened to much of either of them but here you go...

Joey has better flows, production. Emotion comes across.

Earl sounds pretty much the same all the time, uses that talking style of rapping too much. Although he laced "Molly-whooped" and the reason I like it is b/c he doesn't use that talking style. I don' t find he emotes as well neither, just comes across like a morose motherfucker. Which is why I found it weird that you made an M&M comparison cause he is very good at getting emotion across.

Either way they both have skills Joey is just further ahead I think.

It can be considered a gimmick because it is a throwback style, he is one of the only new cats I have heard using it and its reminiscent of an older era, also it helps him attract the attention of listeners. In all actuality every rapper has a gimmick though. I personally don't think a gimmick is negative all the time Walmart's gimmick is being cheap nothings wrong with that, gimmicks just helps something stand out.
