Dwight Howard vs Alonzo Mourning which was/is the better player in their 1st 9 yrs

I give the edge to Dwight Defensive game is about the same but Dwight is more athletic and even though Howard offensive game is ugly still more efficient than Mourning and Howard was a better rebounder So I give a slight edge to Dwight

Zo was the better player but Dwight is more accomplished (in 1st 9yrs) due to a watered down league with no bigs and a weak east that only had 3 good teams back then Magic,Cavs,Boston

I remember Zo becoming a Top Tier center when all the great centers were old and past their prime with exception of Shaq when Zo became a Miami Heat. Imma go with Dwight Longer more athletic and way better rebounder. But just about equal in every other category.

Zo. He played in a much a tougher era, so he doesnt' have the all nba teams like Dwight.

You realize that depending on the year one of these 4 was being left off the All nba team. shaq, robinson, olajuwon, and Ewing. That was the goat era for centers.

Thats b/c Zo was never on that level though......until Ewing Olajuwon Robinson got old then Shaq went West

Im glad this thread was made, b/c the media keep comparing Dwight to great centers. He's not that

Dwight is a great defensive center, and good all-around center, but he's never averaged more than 23 points/game...and only avg. 20ppg 4 times in his career

He is basically the Alonzo Mourning of his day...which is a shame b/c he's way more talented but he aint got no heart

Defense they are about equal, offense Zo dookies all over Howard. Remember the playoff series when Zo hit the game winner to beat Boston? If Howard would of had the ball in that situation he would of got fouled and missed the free throws.

Do ppl really believe Dwight wouldnt be able to do shit in Mourning era lets not 4get the NBA @ that time has never seen a center like Dwight who can run the floor play above the rim athletic freak Dwight is not a toothpick easily one of the strongest players in the League. Mourning was very good but Dwigth was better scorer look @ the FG% ^^^^its not even close plus Dwight way better rebounder and just as equal a defensive anchor

Zo, by far. And I'm a Magic fan. I used to hate those Heat teams from the late 90's...

But Zo was a top Center in the league for years before he got sick. Putting up quality numbers against a lot of top post players...O'Neal, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Mutombo. Not to mention other solid players like Rik Smits or Elden Campbell that could give you a double double on any given night. Dwight is good, but there aren't that many top Centers in the league today.

Because the Heat used to be balling, and the Magic were still good enough for a couple of years after Shaq left for that to be a good rivalry. It wasn't an actual hatred, just mostly some rivalry shit since both teams are in south Florida.

Lol word...I HATED the Knicks in those days...them and the Bulls were the only reasons why the Heat never made the Finals back then.
