Well, it can be seen as both.

When you look back on it, you'll remember the event and then it'll make you think of the cause.

ok but why the big "secret"...I mean if it's really about cancer why make it some secret game to play...doesn't cancer affect everyone, even breast cancer? i mean it's kinda sad that sex has to be used to get people to talk about breast cancer..

Fuckin' stupid. I'm sick of people wasting time and money to "raise awareness"

Why don't you raise some fuckin' money? We know the shit's there. "Oh, for AIDS awareness."

Nigga, who isn't aware of fuckin' aids?

How when everybody is talking about it?

cuz at the end of it all no actual breast cancer facts are being spread...it'd be different if those status updates were followed with an actual fact about breast cancer but they aren't...and i've seen some females even tell guys that we "aren't supposed to know" what the status' are about...if you're trying to make people aware why would you keep it a secret?

ah ok.. I didn't participate in it cause i don't really mess with fb like that, but i was told that the status was supposed to draw attention and cause people to ask questions about the status. And from there the person with the status was supposed to mention what the reason was... But I honestly don't know for sure. If it was meant to be a secret then yea it's a little dumb, BUT it does make people want to know even more when they aren't in on it. You can't lie, it has gotten a lot of peoples attention and it is being discussed. Just probably not in a way that you agree with. It's kind of subliminal...

Well if we were the type of people to listen facts, etc.

It would be stupid

But since most listen/ watch for sensationalized stories

It makes sense

It's effective marketing

the majority of the talk is about the sexual nature of the status' being put up not about what the status updates are supposed to promote...apparently it went out in a message to women on facebook and was supposed to be passed around...I know last year they did it with the whole bra color thing and that was supposed to be a secret too...my girl got the message and put it in her facebook status w/ a breast cancer fact and then wrote "Who the hell would wanna keep breast cancer information a secret" instead of some "I like it..." bullshit and some females actually got mad at her for "messing up the game"

it's effective if it gets people talking about breast cancer...instead people are talking about sex...it's a good idea in theory but the execution has been terrible

Awareness and donations to causes are just another hustle.

15% of that money will actually be spent properly.

I actually haven't found too many conversation that start with sex

It usually starts with

'damn I thought you meant'

Followed by breast cancer talk

Maybe your friends are just hornier :unno

Either way you're giving people way too much credit

Most people can't name their councilman, mayor, senator, and governor correctly

Simply stating facts, isn't how information is spread in 2010, it sucks but it's true

I know it isn't how information is being spread, but I mean they couldn't find any better way to promote breast cancer than to use sex...i know sex sells but that doesn't mean it should be used to sell everything...

I get what you're saying

Controversy gets more attention
