Prance

Santa (his name was pronounced San-Tay though)

LaSecret

Napoleon Bonaparte (that was this little boy's first and middle name real talk)

Shaq and she had a little brother named Shaquille (guess their mom was a fan of the basketball player)

what a depressing thread.

I suppose a black man named " Tao vu" is more acceptable huh..

I'm honestly not sure if that's relevant to my post. I don't know what would constitute an "acceptable" name for anybody, let alone a black man.

Question. Do any of the names in the thread seem ridiculous to you? If yes, then we are in agreement, so I don't see the problem (if there was one). If no, then that's pretty interesting. Also, did your name happen to come up in this thread?

My name is not in this thread but could be considered "ghetto" and yes I saw some "ugly names" in here but I think most " ghetto names" are parents trying to make a unique name. . or original name.... which I have no problem with..

I don't find all "ghetto" names (whatever "ghetto names" means) ridiculous. But some of these "ghetto" names just seem to be terrible (imo) not because they're ghetto but because they just seem stupid (again, imo).

I too have no problem with parents trying to make unique or original names. I respect and encourage that. But I think that in some ways, there's a line that you can cross. When that line is crossed, I don't think that it's about the name being "unacceptable." I think that it's about the name being sensible to the parents and child.

I called shit depressing because I assumed that some of those parents might've been rash and regretted the name later and that some of those children probably hate their name and have been clowned since preschool.

Also, unfortunately, "ghetto" names also invite discrimination, like in college and job applications. I think that it's surprising how much of an impact names can have.
