I just dont understand why biiiiiiiiiiiig successful labels like Cash Money and Death Row etc that turn/turned over $100mils just dont pay artists and producers what they are owed or play by the books... I can understand struggling labels and companies that do that shady schitt, but Cash Money seem to be slitting their own wrists...
If your job could get u to work for free without paying you, do they think they'd give u a check out the kindness of their hearts?? U better believe them dudes are talking to their attorneys to know exactly what they can do to keep prolonging the case until they absolutely have to pay something.
If a (over) $100, $200, $300 million corporation (which these labels allegedly are, I’ve heard over a BILLI in some cases) like say Microsoft, IBM, Apple, Coke, Pepsi or these big banking and law firms etc didnt pay their employees, that they rely so heavily on… then, a) the workers which they badly need would leave them and probably go to a rival b) meaning they would probably go out of business and c) no one would work for them, leaving them worthless... Your name and reputation in business means alot…
Death Row should serve as an example to labels, they had the world at their feet BUT seemingly teated alot of their artists like schitt, which resulted in losing DR DRE, who obviously left and went his own way and started Aftermath and become almost a BILLIONAIRE while Suge is left sitting in jail… Death Row could of been what Aftermath is now really couldn’t it???
The reason (imo) Death Row fell apart and Aftermath flourished isnt just because Pac died, its because Dre looks to run Aftermath like a proper business, like treating his artists properly, looking after his star (eminem) i.e. he pays him and helped him start his own label, they then went on and found another star (50) they backed him and gave him his own label and so on and so on…
And all this has made Dre a commercial star giving him access to the whole of the mainstream world, you think Apple would want to do business with a businessman with a bad reputation for not paying people and treating them like dirt??? Unlikely… Same with Jay and Tidal etc...
