J Cole produces and raps, style can go from conscious, backpack, to commercial. Since when has Drake ever been anything than a commercial artist, who is the hell is checking him for lyrics or anything beyond his hooks. Don't even compare J Cole to Buddens, he doesn't make emo rap or Cassidy because he ain't a punchline rapper. He is clearly more like Kanye (he can be flashy, conscious, a womanizer, witty, etc). Drake is Ja Rule part two, he sings and rap for bitches and is known for making catchy hooks and candy ass songs.

Well i can only go by the limited amount of material i have heard from both (I've only heard the warmup, and that verse on BP3 from J.Cole) and from that i must say that J.cole seems mediocre to boring (Joe budden) but seems to get a lot of hype on the net like he the next big thing (Cassidy early 00's)

Getwitcha

All Drake has to do is make stuff for the 20 and under crowd and he will be fine. I mean im 19 and i connect more to the tastes of people in their mid 20's and 30's. But most people in their teens like me have a diffren't taste in music. Less about lyrics and more about swagger waterd down commercial lyrics like "best i ever had". I think drake is collab rapper but since hes gunna have a million collabs on his album its probally gunna be fine. If weezy can get his projected 150K for that shitty rebirth album in this filesharing/youtube era drake can double or triple that even if he has a lackluster album. And its easy to use sales to declare your greatness nowadays cause nobody is sellin and drake has a large audience of ignorant fans that will buy his album even if its just a blank cd lol.

i keep trying to listen to his whole album but keep getting stuck after track 2. (shrugs)

if you can have more than one fav artist, fav movie, fav bad ass chick

then there's plenty of room in the box of wackness...ala wale

true?

What Drake said is facts but sometimes those type of facts need be said by others. Let others say that cuz u can see dudes might take offense or it comes off as smug, arrogance.

Anyhow, no big deal. Both artists are nice in their own rights. As I've said before- J-Cole does remind me of illmatic Nas (pure, unadulerated hip hop) - the influence is clear. As clear as Jay's inflence on Drake- a more commercial mindset thru skills tho. It comes down to your cup of tea- mine falls along the poet/artist than the businessman so I prefer Cole's music. The difference between Jay and Drake is that Drake seems like he acting where Jay seemed real hustler. I can see Drake doing a Will Smith hollywood thing succssfully.

J Cole is very talented and Drake sounded some what cocky on that statement but it is true in a way. I just hope J Cole can sell units too dude is far more talented as a MC then Drake.

I CoSign this................Wale is just too inconsistant, i heard him spit some crazy shit in 1 verse, and in the next verse it would be wack............I would take him over the forementioned Rappers though, they suck,

I dont know if thats an actual statement by Drake, but I can see how he came up with what was said(if he said it). Drake has the fame and the fortune from his talent as where J. Cole is....well, still trying to find his way to make it on the scene...Potential Nas-like artist, but even Nas knew how to make a lyrical mainstream hit...still waitin on J. Cole's lyrical mainstream hit. Both are great growing artists tho.
