The great red dragon is satan. He will take possession of the beast when the war in heaven happens and he is barred from heaven forever.

The appearance of the great red dragon coincides with the opening of the 6th seal which includes:

1. The greatest earthquake in human history

2. the stars falling from heaven

3. The total destruction of Babylon the Great

4. The failed Gog and Magog invasion of Ezekiel 38-39

5. the darkening of the sun, moon, and stars (nuclear winter)

6. Wormwood striking the waters
