Tom Brady's extension: $78M through 2014, $48.5M guaranteed. Donovan McNabb's extension: $88M through 2015, $40M guaranteed.

Face facts folks. Donovan just got Brady/Peyton Money with this deal. Actually Peyton doesn't have a deal yet but Brady and Mcnabb just set the bar for Peyton. And you know why he got that type of Money? Check the QB Stats from 2000-2009, only 3 names will be at the top of that list. Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Donovan Mcnabb.

Reguardless of what people feel about him being on the Decline. An organization just gave him Big Money and he's in his 12th Year of his career. This validates Donovan's talent. How many 12 year QB's are getting close to 100 Million? That's what people dont' get. Donovan has put up amazing numbers this decade and it's time for people to stop acting like he's some scrub. He just got Brady, Peyton money and he'll be 34 next Thursday.

This doesn't validate anything but Dan Snyder's stupidity. Let's get something clear - Donovan had some great years as a QB. He is one of my favorite QB's to watch. No one is disputing that. But when you invest in a QB, you're doing it based off of what you feel the QB can do for you in the future. D-Mac has been steadily on the decline for a while now. He has trips to the DL on the regular each year, for back spasms, hamstrings, groin tears, etc. People on the IC need to take their capes off and stop defending what clearly is a terrible business decision.

The difference is, McNabb has been in Washington for about 15 minutes. If he got this extension from the Eagles, no one would have said anything. But he just got it from a dude that notorious for throwing money at people that he shouldn't. 2 weeks ago, he didn't have the "cardiovascular endurance" to run the 2 minute offensel and they went to Interceptosaurus Rex instead, now he's the 40 million dollar man ? I'm all about dudes getting money when they can, but you gotta admit that these are some shaky circumstances.

funny you mention that yet you won't accept Brees being better than McNabb when his numbers are in fact better than McNabbs...

Not really, Mcnabb has better numbers than Brees right now overall. And if you look at the the times he's been injuried that says alot. I never discounted Brees numbers. I like Brees but he didn't become this great elite QB until about 3 years ago. Before that, he was a pretty good QB but not a game changer which is why the Chargers went with Rivers. Like I said, I have nothing but respect for Brees, he proved a lot of haters wrong about him. But his numbers aren't better than Donovan's career.

Like I said, check the career numbers. Donovan got that money for 11 years of success with the Eagles. It's the contract the Eagles should of probably gave him for all his hard work over these last 11 years but they wanted to start Kevin "The Future" Kolb who was benched for the guy Mcnabb helped get on the team. Obviously he was good enough to get it cause someone paid it to him. People can focus on Synder all they want but it's his money and he felt Donovan was worth it. What Redskins QB ever got this type of money? They were saying this is the biggest contract for a QB in Redskins history.

McNabb and Brees currently have the same numbers (minus a couple tds and few yards) and Brees did it in 3 less seasons...he even won the super bowl unlike McNabb

The Chargers went with Rivers because they weren't sure Brees could be a good QB to keep a franchise around after he had surgery...which is funny because you mentioned McNabbs injuries

So brees can bounce back from injury better and win the super bowl...hmm

Mcnabb has missed 22 games to injury which is a season and a half of being out. So when you balance out the numbers, they are neck and neck but Mcnabb didn't have the weapons and Defense Brees had. Like I said, he did the most with less next to Tom Brady (Who had a better Defense than Mcnabb did during the Dynasty Years).

yeah I was gonna ask you for a lank to this accusation but I did the numbers myself since I don't really trust your stats after that comment...these are the defensive rankings of the teams each person was on (2006 Brees started with the Saints)

mcnabb

2000 - 10

2001 - 7

2002 - 4

2003 - 20

2004 - 10

2005 - 23

2006 - 15

2007 - 10

2008 - 3

2009 - 12

Average Rank = 11th

brees

2002 - 30

2003 - 27

2004 - 18

2005 - 13

2006 - 11

2007 - 26

2008 - 23

2009 - 25

Average Rank = 22nd

so yeah...where's that defense argument? McNabb's D ranked 13 places higher than Brees' during the super bowl year...

I was going mostly off his San Diego years. I knew the Saints wasn't the best defense. I was focusing more of his career with San Diego as far as his offensive weapons and Defense. Mcnabb had a Defense no doubt but it wasn't a Pittsburg or Bmore Defense like some would claim.

mcnabb is only guarenteed $3.5 million and actually save money if they cut him after this season...so the contract is not as dumb as first reported by mister know it all millz

No one believed that McNabb was getting $40 million guaranteed. But since Smith and ESPN wanted to be first to report the news of the extension, they passed along the phony contract numbers on a don’t ask/don’t tell basis.

Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that McNabb’s deal includes only $3.5 million in guaranteed money.

So Smith and ESPN were wrong, to the tune of $36.5 million. And now Schefter and ESPN are right.

McNabb can get another $10 million in the form of a 2011 option bonus, if the Redskins opt to pay it. If the team that decided to bench McNabb for Rex Grossman only 15 days ago decides after Week 17 that Donovan isn’t the long-term answer, McNabb will be traded or cut.

Beyond that, McNabb has non-guaranteed base salaries of $2.5 million in 2011, $12.75 million in 2012, $13 million in 2013, $13.75 million in 2014, and $13.55 million in 2015. The total base salaries for No. 5 over five years? $55.55 million.

bruh...argument lost...brees never had a top 10 defense and his first 2 years as a starter in SD his D was ranked 30th and 27th, his first year with the Saints was his best defensive unit at 11th...no point bringing Pitt and B-More into the equation because you were the one that brought up defenses in the first place...I was just showing that McNabb has had ffffffaaaarrrr greater defenses

My nigga. Yep if Mcnabb keeps sucking he will be cut next year so its not a big deal.

Brees and Rivers>>>>>McNabb.... I know the numbers are wrong he wont come close to reaching the incentives needed and his declining play and age doesnt warrant an big time extension...
