Rafael Trujillo was deeply hated by not only Haitians but Dominicans and Latin Americans during his oppressive dictatorship. Besides the genocide of thousands of Haitians in 1937, he led a regime which he ordered to threaten, expel, torture or kill Dominicans in orchestrated accidents or “suicides.” For a very long time women were unable to walk outside safely as they would be approached by his regime, beaten, tortured, raped and killed. This led to his assassination by ambush by seven assassins, some of whom were members of his own armed forces.

Besides the political aspect, it's also a matter rooted in the general idea of religious differences. There are many barrios in DR which are heavily populated with Haitians who practice their beliefs while ideas held by Dominicans for the most part come from Catholic teachings. This certainly creates a divide amongst some as it was taught that what is being practiced is to be feared ie. Voodoo.

I used to live in DR so I know and understand the corruption and why things are the way they are. I was solely pointing out that your seperation of Dominicans and blacks is false. That's all.

Anyone who isn't in denial or blatantly ignorant, Dominicans included because plenty of old heads deny their roots, knows and understands the genetic makeup of Dominicans. It's also pretty evident to plain sight in the majority of the country. Now if you meant Black American then I understand.

The point is they should not be treating haitians like that and using their history is just an excuse, the balance of power has so vastly shifted, these are not the days when haiti controlled the whole island. white people supported zimmerman, but dominicans are black or have lots of black in them so they should know better and i am not talking just about this case i am talking about the treatment dark skinned people get in domincan republic in general.
