BP3 is some of his best work when it comes to lyrics??

Man, you Hovito worshippers need to give the shit a rest, the nigga is playing a young man's game on two bad knees...time for his old ass to make an exit....go promote your artists, give B a fucking baby, do some shit behind the scenes because Jay is looking pitiful these days....if he keep it up, somebody need to do this old dog a favor and put him out to pasture...it's only right

you have to be the most ignorant mofo in the world to think that you can be too old to make music. Attention: rap is not sports

It would be different if he was just making music. Jay is still trying to prove shit he has no business trying to

I agree with this.

The worst albums in Jay's catalog are plagued by him explaining why he should be highly regarded, trying to discredit the whole "no country for old men" movement in Hip Hop, and competing with youngin's that aren't even up to par anyway. American Gangster is highly regarded because it's Jay Z being Jay Z without having to "remind us" through song of what he's accomplished. It wasn't trendy and he wasn't trying to dictate what shouldn't be trendy. The Black Album worked because in spite of him having a few songs saying "why he should be #1", he spent a good portion of the album proving it. Aside from those two albums, Jay Z's post Blueprint albums have all managed to showcase Jay's insecurities as an MC.

Yes it does, I couldn't believe when I saw the thread that said he should retire. The man has been on point with features(Hot Toddy, So Appalled, Moon & Sky Remix, Light up) and his last album was very successful. What is he doing wrong? Is it his age? The assistance from Kanye? He's had assistance from Kanye, so whats the problem? He's had so much success I think the long term haters just want to try and use anything in their delusional mind to discredit the longevity and history of Jay.

I agree that Jay shouldn't retire. He's needed in the sense that him continuing to make music shows longevity for Hip Hop artists. If he makes music that we don't like, the simple solution would just be not to check for it. There's artists like Prince that still make music and even though the albums aren't blockbusters sale wise or his fans complain about the direction of his music, his concerts and live shows are still huge.

i think when it comes to that people are mostly speaking on his age

in the sense of thinking rap is a young mans game

and we have never had a hip-hop artist this hot into his 40s'

I think he should retire because he is not sayin or doing anything new he just furthering this pop/eurotechno/whitewash agenda the industry seems to have and he should have

never brought up retiring to begin with it was a ego thing thinking he the micheal jordan of rap but creating art and athletics are two completely different things . I think he has lost

fans since his "retirement". He just should have said I'm taking a hiatus for a couple of years to refocus or something of the sort. Instead of coming back outta retirement and

then dismantling his legacy with mediocre albums like bp3 and kingdome come. To me age doesn't really matter but you have to grow as an artist and talk about more mature

subjects as well .

It's weird because young rappers are trying to be like him. Every bar that's been set in hip-hop for the last 7-10 years has been set by Jay-z. Jay has told these rappers what to drink, when to change clothes, what type of precious metal to wear and what type of car to drive.

Would you retire if you kept seeing success at damn near everything you do?

Realest spit you ever spat.

I mean really? This guys last to albums were probably some of his best work lyrically and conceptually. Do people hate just to hate? Atleast give me some examples of him lyrically falling off like every other rapper in the game. thats all I ask. thanks

You ARE ENTIERLY DILUTED if u can't hear/see Shawn'z songs r NOTHING but Satanic/Masonic messages, he should b arrested not retired.

No it does not. I think seeing how Rap Fans are easily swayed by Pop Culture is the true indicator of their ignorance.

True, if the man still has the itch then he should continue. However, taking him out of the game past, present, or future and Hip Hop loses absolutely nothing.
