No there is no such thing as race in the biological or anthropological sense. Race is a societal construct.

Closed thread

FALSE INFORMATION......

When scientists first decoded the human genome in 2000, they were quick to portray it as proof of humankind’s remarkable similarity. The DNA of any two people, they emphasized, is at least 99 percent identical.

But new research is exploring the remaining fraction to explain differences between people of different continental origins.

Scientists, for instance, have recently identified small changes in DNA that account for the pale skin of Europeans, the tendency of Asians to sweat less and West Africans’ resistance to certain diseases.

which part of ethnic variation does not rise to the level of qualitative differentiation necessary to be different races do you not understand?

yes there are some differences, but they are superficial at best. if these differences are not qualitative and/or not quantitative enough, as well as not being present along historical lineages, it is not a different race, period.

a biological term's meaning does not change just cuz we apply it to human beings. current human beings are a subspecies themselves, we are subspecies sapien of the species homo sapien. homo sapiens had other subspecies, homo sapien idaltu for example. bees have different races, our subspecies does not

O.K.......

I guess things like the ability to sweat and resistance to disease are "superficial" these days......

I would add my input on how race is a societal construct used by the elites to instigate conflict while garnering the natural resources scot-free , but this thread has been ethered into oblivion before I could get a shot in.

Not really.......

This information has yet to be "ethered"........

"Scientists, for instance, have recently identified small changes in DNA that account for the pale skin of Europeans, the tendency of Asians to sweat less and West Africans’ resistance to certain diseases."

^^^ biological construct.........

People who have lived in the same geographic region for many generations may have some alleles in common, but no allele will be found in all members of one population and in no members of any other.

Oh, is that so?

Trying to disprove evolution, again?

Sorry it won't work

@bambu

So adaptations the ability to sweat less, have paler skin, or have resistances to is a testament to there being a different race? Then let's just separate everything that has minute differences into groups. You'd have hundreds of different races based on your(their) trivial, frivolous classifications on race.

It's an exercise in stupidity and manipulation, to create different races out of minute mundane details. So to your logic your the ability to sweat less means your a whole new race well then what about West Africans who sweat less do they get grouped in the "asian" race? < Don't answer that it's a rhetorical question, SMH at you arguing with an actual biologist(kai) too btw. I hate google scholars
