No, almost every generation has a good percentage of the population who believes it's almost the end for them. It's just because of uncertainty. The people who lived during WWII most definitely felt the same way. Of course now, we know that that dark period is over and other dark periods have occurred since, but when you are living through those moments, shit just seems grim for humanity. Now, you have religious nuts, terrorism, fear mongering, wars fueled off of greed, economies in the shitter, undying racial tension, environmental concerns, and no one knows what the future entails. I strongly feel that like other periods full of panic and stress, that this will just be another period in history that isn't pleasing to look back on.
