I shouldn't have quoted "weird" as I don't like that term.
It goes back generations, a lot of history behind it.
I do know you won't catch me out around those parts driving alone at night. Listen, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on true events. It can happen anywhere but I choose to target the south as I have heard plenty of uniquely disturbing true stories coming from there.
That and the fact that I feel more comfortable in the city amongst our, as you would say, weirdos than I do in many other parts of the US.
