I related to Jay-Z in the Reasonable Doubt era. His lyrics on that album depicted what a lot of people I knew were going through at the time.

Of course now I can't relate to being a multi millionaire, but the growth from where he was, to what he is today is something I respect.

Almost every artist I listen too has to have something I can relate to. Or else I wouldnt be listening.

I relate to DMX because I have a bit of an anger problem because I grew up being misunderstood. I also look to God for answers to my problems based on what my Grandmother taught me.

I relate to Krayzie Bone because I fuckin hate police and believe they are Babylonian soldiers who will enforce the New World Order. Krayzie Bone has a very complex view on government and different political issues, as do I. His religious views are also similar to mine.

To top it off, they both are dope as shit.

i relate to them to a certain extent. jay because of his hustler mentality, pac cuz of his passion and his view of the world, lupe cuz of the way he says he grew up(lived in the hood did dirt but doesn't let it define him) and nas cuz of his knowledge and poetic verses

I relate to the vast majority of Scarface's lyrics mainly when it comes to politics, religion, drugs, legal problems, etc. I relate to some of Tech N9ne's lyrics like his views on females, drugs, and religion. But I'm also a huge Brotha Lynch Hung fan and I've never eaten another human being. I know Lynch is not really a cannibal and if you really listen to his songs in their entirity, you realize most of his cannibal references are metaphors for eating up other rappers lyrically. I would say that generally, the more I can relate to an artist, the more of a fan I'm gonna be for that artist.

I don't have to relate to my favorite rapper because I'm not looking for a role model or someone to call "hero." If I have to connect with them on a personal level, then it would go beyond the music. And the music is the only thing that should matter. This is merely entertainment. Nothing more. Nothing less. I fucks with anybody who delivers the good shit, musically. I'm not looking to be friends with them. I just want someone to deliver entertainment, which is their job, first and foremost, as entertainers.
