What you're suggesting sounds like it makes them more of a revolutionary, not a patriot. I do agree those are things blacks should practice though.

Take a look at history and you'll see the majority of those considered Patriots we're Revolutionaries not only in this country but abroad. The term Patriot has been prostituted to the degree that people waving an American flag that was made in China think they are Patriots. Patriots were the people who weren't afraid to evoke change through action.

Patriots fight for not a system of government or a group of people but for an idea. The idea that the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, although written on the back of slaves and in the blood of Native people in the end still has meaning and should be preserved, taken seriously, and applied to all people and that it is necessary to fight for that ideal because if you dont fight for it believe nobody else will either.

This is where you lose me. The idea wasn't written with us in mind at first. Well no, it did have our roles as servants defined. IMO what they created has always been a document of power, catering to only themselves in their new world. Or the world they made their own, I should say. The revision's they made are more nigger-friendly now a days, but the old mentality is still prevalent. That old "idea" is still out there. And they'll call themselves patriots just as quick as you would call yourself one. No matter how good your intentions are. 9/11 and Obama's term have showed us that vividly. The masquerade can drop very quickly when they want it too.

Your version of the idea is good and how things should be. But we don't live in a country where that's truly how it is. So to me a patriot isn't a enough. It takes a revolutionary thinking (positive thinking) to bring those idea's of ours to fruition.

That was my point! It's up to us to fight to make sure we're included in the idea. That's the whole point.

Making the country a better place for ALL people (blacks are people to you correct?) is the epitome of a Patriot.

Criticizing your country for falling short of its promise and its ideals is PATRIOTIC.

Nat Turner = Patriot

Malcolm X = Patriot

You all keep trying to make the word patriot out to be happy bootlicking American. Why are you allowing white republicans to claim a whole word?

It's well known that those who win the war, write history. If the Native American's were able to defeat the Europeans, who's history would be prominent in the schools? Or if Hitler or Ghengis had actually succeeded? If you conquered a nation, who's side would you sell as the classic good and evil? Patriotic or terrorist? People only think that cause that's the side that won. They're many revolutionaries out there, fighting good causes, but you'll never know cause they have or are losing. And when they lose, they either get swept under the rug or get their character assassinated it seems.

You make a valid point and this would hold true for typical text book history. I don't make a habit of absorbing and believing historical events and people the way they are spoon fed to us so I research everything.

Damn. That does appear true I have to say. I mentioned our society being engineered, the bolded could be considered one result of that. The fact stands that we are American. The constitution and DOI, in it's current form, does recognize us as equals and is law. And the government is to uphold to that. We have the right, perhaps obligation, to see that they do so as it's citizens.

I'm understanding one's skin color making them more patriotic now. The effects of racism has many feeling like they ain't apart of the U.S. Niggas still feeling seperated and on their own in a sense. Casted out.

Interesting.

I'm not patriotic, but race has nothing to do with it.

I do think America is a nice/amusing/convenient place to live though.

True. Often it's the only way to actually learn anything. Problem is, anybody can write a book. I find that reading history is like .... figuring out the actual story to a Street Fighter game. Difficult because every character seems to win.

anyways to answer your question, hell no I don't consider myself patriotic. And it's crazy because I live on a damn military base and have been around a military environment for most of my life. Having had the oppurtunity to travel to different countries, it really opens your eyes and makes you see that the US really aint even all that great. And I hate when I hear that stupid ass shit "Support our troops...they're fighting for your freedom." SHUT THE FUCK UP. Yeah they're people in Afghanistan still on the front lines. But stop making all these regular ass military people who dont do shit some kinds of "hero" just cuz they on the military payroll. I don't look up to these men/women in the military. That was their fuckin choice. I hate the propganda that they play on TV about troops and shit, because it's always so sensationalized and fake. The U.S is shit for the most part.

Most revolutionaries in the positive sense are really conservatives. Trying to conserve the idea of America and do away with the reality to make for a better reality based on the ideal.

There is a such thing (to me) as a negative revolutionary. For example Reagan Revolutionized how we deal with corporations and it bit us in the ass decades later. General Ulysess S. Grant fought against the Klan to DEFEND blacks and revolutionized the way the Federal government treated blacks....THEN the U.S. Congress had their own little revolution to reverse that and the KKK grew more powerful.

Our revolutionary was their Nigger Loving traitor. So when you say "revolutionary" dont forget it goes both ways. What is being revolutionized is more important than the word itself.

Patriots fight for not a system of government or a group of people but for an idea. Blacks should be the main ones keeping the "IDEA" of America alive. Especially with our dumbass kids these days thinking their situation is hopeless. Not enough black patriots.

Sermon.

America isn't perfect. America has done and is responsible for a lot of fucked up shit.

However, theres never been a country like it. It is a remarkable success and was founded with a good idea in mind (albeit executed poorly). Only thing I can really say for fact is that Im proud/like who I am and live a pretty comfortable lifestyle and it probably wouldn't be like this if I wasn't born and (mostly) raised in America.

Here’s quick and easy way to determine if you are…”patriotic”

1.You are an American right?

2.Being in a American you have certain rights , privileges and opportunities ….in other words…. a certain way of life…correct?

Yes or No:

Will you fight….and possible kill to preserve this way of life you have?

If the answer is: Yes”

You my friend are patriotic

I’ve feeling 100% of you will also…..if push came to shove will defend, fight, kill and if it came down to it ..die….to preserve this American way of life.

You don’t understand what it means right now, because you probably never left the country for any extended period of time.....much like a spoil rich kid that doesn't know what it is to be without...or live in the ghetto
