From a Producer's/DJ's Standpoint...

Hotline Bling = Lollipop (Musically)

Yeah I can see that. If Drake wasn't already the mainstream darling that he is that shit probably would've been his crossover hit like lollipop was for wayne

In what club?

I'm talking Musically, the chord progressions and key/pitch they are in. The R&B sound w/ hip hop additives...you can literally put the songs over each other and they blend perfectly.

Also, the impacts the songs had.

Ehhh I think we're about on the same page, different opinions. Stereolab mixed with R&B with NO hip hop can't be the same as strip club song with a nigga basically talkin and gargling on it.

I'll agree they can blend tho, but unless I'm doin a YMCMB hits set, I ain't playin them in the same arena. Alluding to my thoughts on they're impacts. Idk how nobody quantifies impacts of these songs, they changed nothing about anything around them.

I'd give the edge to Lollipop being a better song over Hotline Bling because of the work Static Major and Jim Jonsin (and I think Deezle as well) did on it

You speaking as far as popularity? That's probably because Drake was already a crossover artist at that point, I think Lollipop was really Wayne's first breakthrough as far as reaching pop, especially on his own song and not as a feature on another artist's song

C1 and C2 aged so much better than C3. That's really why it can't be a classic. C3 has the best sales and mainstream hype bar none. But who the fuck still listens to "Let the beat build". Who is riding around Bumping "Got Money". And the hits like A Milli and Lollipop sound much cornier years later.

When i play Go DJ or BMJR or Hustler Musik that shit sounds solid still in 2017 unlike most of C3.

After the mixtapes he dropped prior to C3, it felt like a massive letdown even though lollipop and a milli were hits for him.

I wish the IC Data can go back to 2008 and pull y'all comments on Wayne back then about Carter 3

What does that have to do with after time passing in 2017 niggas thinking the impact doesn't last to be called a classic? Part of what makes a classic is still having replay value and quality years after it came out. C3 was on fire for like a year. After that no niggas played that shit often. Where as i still play illmatic and low end theory front to back often.

Opinions are Asshole everybody have one... that why I post YouTube comments to the thread....Everybody have the right to their own opinion but Mass Audience determine what a Classic or not ... not your or My personal opinion. It's like me saying Adele 25 album is not classic because I do not listen to her music.... but to the mass audience Adele 25 is a classic ....and to the mass audience the Carter 3 is Lil Wayne's classic...The mass audience determines the term classic for an album at end of day

Hammer and Ice got classics?

Yup... and that's my point.

Name Vanilla ices classic

The Mass Audience love this song even brought the album in 1990.... but real hip hop dude hated this dude... Carter 3 is the Crossover Album just like Vanilla Ice To the Extreme Album in 90...Crossover to the mass audience always equal Classic to the majority of the public

He thinks Recovery is a classic and "Some Cut" by Trillville is one of the best crunk songs ever lol.

See what happens when y'all niggas let white people have opinions on hip-hop? Out comes the dumb shit.
