Do you think 50,000 copies in its first week is a flop?

Its doing numbers I expected it to do. I wouldn't call it flop cause no one sells records these days.

word....B.o.B. sold 85,000 first week with the number 1 and number 2 itunes singles, I'm glad these two managed to break the 50K mark, if they do that.

B.O.B isn't an establish artist though, it's damn near impossible for new artist to do numbers. 50 K isn't a good number no matter which way you cut it, you have to established artist with two fanbase.

Though I've heard & really liked about 3-4 tracks from this album before it's release I have not even checkout the whole album. I may go out & cop it today mainly because I support Nas & have never been totally disappointed in any of his projects. I will say that these are 2 serious artist who are serious about their craft & that should be respect in a time where-in dudes get away with saying any & everything on a song & the media makes folk believe that the shit is hot.

This is true and we need to keep in mind that this album has not been heavily promoted. It's hard for us all to accept that artist who break 50k 1st week out is actually average numbers now-a-days for even very popular artist. Think about it. Some artist who are on the radio 3 times an hour, in every mag, video is in the top5 of top 10 videos on BET and when dude's album drops they only do 30-40k. That's what I call a flop. We have to keep in mind the kind of album that Nas & Damian put out & the audience it caters to. Conscious artists will by majority always sell less than artists make more radio/club/street friendly music. With that in mind, 50k from by these kind of artists compared to artists who are on the radio 3 times an hour & who make radio/club/street friendly music and then they sell less or even slightly more than what Damian & Nas sold is not much of an accomplishment IMO.

I think that it's safe to multiply 1st week's saleds by 5 to get an around-about number to what that artists sales would've looked like say 5-7 years ago. Album sales are down by 20% in 2007 so over a period of 5-7 years with a steady decrease I think multiplying an artist sales now-a-days by 5 is not too far off from what they would've sold years ago. Doing that should help us all with putting things into a more realistic perspective.

Either way I think Nas & Damians success as far as how well this album sell when all is said & done will come from it's world-wide numbers. This album will most likely be more appreciated & actually purchased from people in countries outside of the U.S.

ahha .. no word of a lie ..

I was with this chick a week before the album dropped .. I had downloaded it .. and we was drinking .. about to to slide over to the bed .. then she ask me to throw on some music.. I am not the type to play music while beating but .. she wanted it and it was a cost free request .. so I flipped that distant relatives on through my ipod speakers.. ahhaa ..

shake yo head nigga's i know its coming .. But i bought my copy on Tuesday. I love reggae and like hip hop .. but the reggae isn't really more of one thing and it is the other.. the album is $9.99 .. go buy that shit .. support real music .. that shis has been on rotate for about 4 weeks now.

buy the album people! .. i'm usually the first to download shit but i made sure to go out and buy this.

50k is OKAY...especially for an album with virtually no promotion. I mean, the record sales are in a slump and the #1 album last week did 60k (even though the album was in it's 8th week, not 1st). But this is Nas and Damian Marely....their fanbases put together couldn't do more than 50 thousand? It's not THAT bad, but it isn't good either...at all; especially for them. Obviously not too many people were checking for this collabo.
