That's why I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would want to be an organ donor.
It sounds noble on the surface, but if you're seriously injured in an accident or something and the hospital finds out you're an organ donor...you're worth more to them dead than alive.

It sounds noble on the surface, but if you're seriously injured in an accident or something and the hospital finds out you're an organ donor...you're worth more to them dead than alive.
Except, a doctor caught doing that, or a hospital caught engaging in organ harvesting while knowing full well that the patient could've been saved would lead to ginormous amounts of fines and subsequent litigation fees fighting to keep licenses and permits.
It's not worth it for a hospital to engage in such acts from a financial standpoint, and from a reputation standpoint.
The state health department fined the hospital $6,000 after finding its care of Burns was unacceptable. And the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services criticized its failure to investigate.
