Judging by pure mathematical odds most of the posters here in the IC have it...but of course looking through this thread you'd think this was the only population on Earth untouched by herpes viruses.

HSV stigma is a purely manufactured social panic. 90% of the people that have it show no signs or symptoms. It's literally only dangerous if you're immunosupressed or if you have an outbreak during pregnancy. Gonorrhea and chlamydia are a 100 times more destructive yet not treated with near this same amount of fear.

Acne is a perfect analogue: it's an often painful skin disease caused by the overgrowth of a microbe (Propionibacterium acnes) in hair follicles, it's prevalence in young people is near 90% and we just accept it as a given that everyone at some point had it:
