I can't speak for everyone else but for ME, when I started to really check for solo southern artist Tip was at the forefront

His beats, his flow, his rhymes, top notch. As his buzz grew his songs got better, his peers recognized him, his vids were cool

Then he called him KOTS and it made sense to me.
