Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks Are No Longer on CMA Website, Social Media Due to Racist Comments
Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks stole the show last night at the Country Music Awards when they performed together. Unfortunately, according to a report from TMZ, all images and references to the four women from last night’s show have been removed from the CMA website and social media accounts because of racist comments.
According to TMZ’s source, the CMA was particularly upset by commenters’ reactions to Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks’ support for the Black Lives Matter movement. The CMA did not, however, remove the women from its Snapchat channel, because users aren’t able to comment on the platform.
One comment said, “That’s right folks. Beyonce performed at the CMAs last night & is on a mission to take country music away from us, hardworking white people!” Someone else wrote, “@ Beyonce the cop hater? No thanks.” Another read, “What place does @ Beyonce who vilifies police officers who keep us safe have to do with #CMAawards50?” There were others that were equally upsetting.
TMZ says they’ve been told that they regret inviting the women to perform at all.
