im finishing up my BA in IT in one year, I didnt go to college straight out of HS for the very reason I didnt know what I wanted to major in, picking something for money and hating it for the rest of your life is not smart. I researched my interest vs majors/careers and IT fit for me.

STEM careers are not all complicated hard shit, also there plenty of none STEM careers that are good, its all about research, looking at the job market.

yeah picking a major that will guarantee a job is good, but choose something that you are actually interested in; dont just think about the money, you'll be unhappy as fuck.

co-sign this. at the end of your life you're not gonna be thinkin "damn so glad i made all that money" you're gonna be thinkin about all your regrets and mistakes in life, and if you have your heart set on a certain major and career go for it.

@rozay, I agree. But we are not in the times where jobs are at an abundance. I think today people take pride in just having a job versus what they are actually doing

thats why you take your interest and find a career that can hit on enough of them, there are some survey/polls out there that takes your interest and gives you a list of careers back

Im a Sociology Major and a Communications minor. I chose these two fields because I was genuinely interested in learning the information presented by them. I already know that those degree's aren't good in terms of getting hired for a high paying job but I plan to never have to do that.

I work in business and promotions/marketing so knowing the sociology of people and how to communicate with them is what is gonna end up making me rich.

My major was mechanical engineering. I work as a design engineer now. I'm the only engineer for the whole company. We're pretty small but still I have the opportunity to be called a senior/chief engineer if I stay here longer which I highly doubt I will.

Tried CS last semester and I don't think its for me, maybe it was the professor ( was cool but didn't teach hands-on/visually enough imo which is the best way I learn).
