I thought it was common knowledge that College Dropout is classic and certainly among the better debut albums....

I don't know anybody that would argue against that

maaaaaaaaaan,

its crazy how this isnt mentioned amidst the conversation of classic hiphop albums, or atleast great debut albums.

Bruh are you serious? Its the gold standard, every Ye album is judged against that album. Especially his last few albums the number 1 comment you will see in those threads is mentions of how great CD is and how those albums dont measure up. Btw overnight celebrity was a twista song and gold digger was on Ye's sophmore album. Idk if I can really take you seriously.

i would hope that is the case but i was just thinking i never really hear it come in to conversation when people talk about classics.... maybe its one of those unspoken things that are acknowledged on the downlow

bumblesnaps to "Last Call"... one of, if not THE greatest outro i ever heard

The ONLY thing wrong with this album is the overabundance of skits. I dont like "Breathe In Breathe Out" either but gets a pass from all the rest of the tracks.

Its a great album, classic even, no dobut. I personally think the majority of his albums are the same quality of College Dropout or better. I think CD isnt in many people top albums because they may have another Ye album like MDTBF in there.

Naw you good bro. This a healthy conversation for a hip hop forum, they dont come along enough. Its about 10 roast threads on the reasons front page if I feel the need, just making sure you know your shit.

this is a good point and i wouldnt even know how to explain it either...i mean 95% of nas fans will say illmatic was his best, but when it comes to kanye the opinions are spread way across the board....like i was thinking maybe it was a generational thing but Kanye always been in his own lane so you cant really lump him in with all the other genres.

shit maybe dude really is just a genius

College dropout is an unquestioned classic. I don't give a fuck what no one says, Ye had a crazy wave. CD, LR, Graduation, 808s, and MBDTF are classics in my eyes. The beauty of it is all those albums had different vibes and different themes. His new shit is decent but to question dudes legend status is absurd at this point. College Dropout was an experience the first time I played it

Which is why I appreciate Late Registration just a little more. CD was high school. LR was college and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is Fortune 500

Only song I don't dig is Workout Plan. Other than that, near perfect. Oh, I don't like some of old Kanye's snares.

They're my gripes with the album.

I even liked the skits.
