Rakim came out in 1986. So did Jay Z, here's a song called HP Gets Busy that Jay rapped on in 86. Listen to Jay's flow and then compare it to Rakim's flow from the same year. Jay goes in @ 1:40 and again at 4:15.


It sounds like Jay had a nice style but the song wasn't produced properly. Some of the vocals are low and the beat could have been better.
