So, as you may or may not know, I'm back at "East Side High", teaching Earth Science this year. It's not the worst, but these new freshmen are experts at pressing buttons.
What bothers me though is the fact that the staff seems to be attached to the idea that giving them food and snacks calms them down. Most enabling shit I've ever seen; teachers handing out granola bars and fruit to stop the students from tearing shit up; students randomly running into rooms during class to ask for water. My TA gave some kids fruit she bought in yesterday and one of them deliberately smashed that shit by throwing it on the floor like a three-year-old. Grapes and Strawberries and Blood Oranges everywhere.
I swear to all Gods, we're in the Science Lab right now, and the guy who runs it teaches them and makes them pancakes all at the same time. And these ungrateful muhfuckas don't even say "thank you."

You know your kid is horrible at home. How the fuck do you think he is going to act at school? We find out my son is fucking up. We correct it. My son gets bad grades? We ask the teacher what can we do.
My wife had a friend that said teachers arent doing their jobs if her child is getting bad grades. We told her that it is HER job not the teacher to insure her child passes. It is the teachers job to facilitate and help make sure the child understands. If your child doesnt pass. That teacher still has a job and will move on.
