In a new interview with Drip, Mass Appeal creative director Sacha Jenkins and the magazine's CEO, Peter Bittenbender, confirmed that Lost Tapes 2 is indeed on the way and will likely see a release in 2016, after Nas' next album on Def Jam.

"Nas is working to deliver this next record to Def Jam, which will be his last [for them]. I haven't been too involved in that, so I can't tell you when it's coming. Once that's out, then Lost Tapes will follow shortly after. It'll definitely be a 2016 release

Lost tapes is my favorite album of all time, if done right I think Lost tapes 2 could surpass the first one but I have a feeling he's going to treat it too much like a new album and there's going to be a lot of later stuff and not a compilation of old songs that didn't make his old albums that are remastered or remade over a different beat, he should do a 10 song album and use an unreleased track from every album starting with Illmatic up until LIG or if he gets a new album out before then then make it an 11 track album, and throw a couple bonus track at the end or have a bonus disc
