What relevance is that? MC Hammer had a huge impact and so did Vanilla Ice but where the fuck are they now? I am not saying his impact was positive or even big but Mike Jones did have an impact for sure.

Cage and Ill Bill no impact?

damn you must stay tuned into the radio

cage came out with a nice debut album, a dope second album and a wack 3rd album. aside from that i think he got some collabo lps with camu tao and tame1, but the guy to this point has never done anything that hasnt been done better before.
same with jeezy.
and about ill bill, to this day i havent met anyone that know who this guy is

Immortal Tech no impact?

I think the view of weather or not someone has impacted this genre just comes down to what type of music you like or dislike in hip hop.

Unsigned Hype and Hip HOp quotable

Dance with the Devil is definitely up there with top story telling hip hop tracks

Def well known in hip hops battle circuit

% of Profits of last album went to orphanage in Afghanistan

songs like Bin Laden, Impeach the President

Started a record label with major distribution of which he is the A&R

Lots of people still looking for Middle Passage

There is def reason to write off a lot of underground or backpackers like you say but saying IT had no impact on hip hop, at least in the way i look at hip hop isnt accurate

again i think this thread is just about your overall view of hip hop. B/c people who i know and talk/work with music on teh regular not only know about Ill Bill with this solo stuff, but his stuff with Non Phixion and with La Coka Nostra.

I mean if this thread is getting at impact in regards to things like universal classics or going platinum or starting merchandising trends well then yea a lot of anyone not signed to a major can be thrown up in this thread

I think they are referring to the average/casual listener.

Just because you know the man's resume like the back of your hand don't mean your average hip hop listener would know who Immortal Technique is or his contributions to rap. They'll probably think an Immortal Technique is some kind of kung fu death blow.

as far as i know la Coka Nostra got quite a big impact in hip hop, but ill bill as a solo artist? na maybe as a producer but def not as a rapper

tony yayo got the impact of been one of the worst rappers ever along benzino, lil b, soulja boy, etc
bankz is dope and if, there's no denial of his lyrical shit in his first album no matter how shitty you think the 2nd one is
spider loc became one of my favorite jokes cuz of 240 bars

as far as the rest, game would be the same without 'em, d12 claims to get love in detroit
