U right, Hip Hop started using James Brown records as backdrops and then they looped it into a track, u are so right the 70's produced the music that would help shape the music of the 90's

Well for me, the 90's was definately the best period in music as far as hip hop, rnb, rock, and electronica. for hip hop because all coasts were getting play then. and there was more of a balance mainstream wise. yes u would have party records. but lyrical artists were getting a higher volume of spins to counterbalance that. rnb because so many different sub genres were flourishing. such as hip hop soul, neo-soul, new jack swing, and pop rnb. rock because also there were many different active scenes at that time. u had grunge, showgazing, sludge metal was gaining ground in new orleans, nu-metal came a little later, industrial rock was getting play. not to mention one of my favorite rock albums (too dark park) came out during this decade. and lastly electronica. many trance artitsts were getting radio play. aphex twin and autechre had the underground/idm market in a chokehold. drum n bass was just starting to catch on with people. and not to mention trip hop was receiving acclaim with artists like massive attack and tricky. so yes. i will agree that the 90's was one of the best decades for music overall

i c/s this in BLOOD

i cant think of a better more unique time for music... tribe, wutang, nas, de la soul, the fugees it goes on and on for hip hop, then you have bands like nirvana coming out with shit that change music forever as well. I know that the 90s were the golden era of hip hop but hell I'd say it was the golden era for ALL MUSIC

I'd say the 16/17th centuries were the best...you had cats like Mozart and Beethoven doing their thing and those joints is timeless..mutherfuckers still listening to that shit TODAY

90's was pretty good but as long as Thriller was made in the 80's that alone > anything 90's. Artist are still trying to catch up to MJ. Then Prince-Purple Rain, Babyface with Tender Lover, Debarge had All this love and Time will reveal, Guy, Lisa Lisa and Full Force, New Edition Heartbreak, Bobby Brown Don't be cruel. Troop, Levert, Whitney when she could hit all her notes, Al.B Sure, Keith Sweat. Cameo, Janet with Control and Rhythm Nation and too many others to name.

Rock had Guns and Roses the band that gave Rock Music a kick in the ass, these dudes saved rock music from the glam band scene. You had Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Durran Durran, Hall and Oates and acts you could not escape from even if you were hard core hip-hop. George Michael got more rotation on R and b stations than most r and b artist with his faith album (that was a good cd, no homo) Phil Collins was a hell of a song writer as well and had some jams. Then you had Madonna that had some ok songs.(the forerunner of Brittany Spears)

Really the only type of music that was better in the 90's maybe hip-hop and that's up for debate. Run DMC king of Rock and Rasing Hell, LL- Radio and Bigger and Deffer, Beatise Boys-Licensed to Ill,Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, NWA, Ice T, P.E., EPMD, Kane, Heavy D., Mc Lyte, Salt and Peppa,UTFO and one of the most underrated groups of all time Whodini that were like the R and B version of Run Dmc, really Whodini's music never stop playing on the radio and though other 80's rap songs seem so dated even 10 years ago, songs like Friends, One love, Funky Beat, I'm a ho, Five minutes of funk could be released today and be even bigger hits than they were back then. And don't front the Fat Boys had 2 good albums, no two early classic hip-hop albums( that's right I said it.) Fat Boys and Fat Boys are Back.

but when you were born probably determines when you thought music was the best.
