Camden, America’s poorest city struggles with crime, violence

I met a chick from Camden in NC while I was at UNC. One of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I was surprised as hell when I found out she was from Camden. I joked with her about having to sleep with a gun under pillow. She said she did and was dead serious. She showed me an everything, which was crazy cause she kept doing it even in Chapel Hill.

Durham is right next door so she did the right thing LOL. That shit is like a mini-Camden. If I go to Durham I'm usually out before the street lights are on & I always have my gun in the car.

Come on man. Durham is bad, but it ain't that bad. Most of the trouble there is gang related. It ain't like Camden where its all just ingrained in the culture of the city. And Chapel Hill is safe. I remember the first year I was there, someone got murdered and they acted like it was the end of the world.

LOL. Maybe I exaggerated, but if u live in the surrounding area ( I live in Raleigh) Durham's crime/murder rate is a running joke of sorts.

U must be talking about the Eve Carson chick that was murdered. I was in my JR year at NC State & my lil cuz was in her FR year at UNC. When they 1st said they had suspects in the murder my 1st thought was "them niggas from Durham"...and I was right. But Chapel Hill is safe for the most part b/c it's so small. UNC's campus is most of the city LOL. I used to come there & chill w/ my cuz all of the time...especially on weekends when she had tix for b-ball games.

NC State used to have parties in our student center damn near every weekend. U didnt even have to be a NCSU student. As long u had a college ID u could attend so we had ppl from UNC, Duke, Central, St. Aug, Shaw U, etc. that used to come. My FR year (05-06) & SO the cover charge was 5 bucks, then in my SO year they had a fight & the party got shut down early & then somebody got stabbed outside the party so they shut it down for the rest of the school year.

The following year they started having parties again but they started charging like $10 or $15 b/c they had to hire security in order to have parties. The niggas that did the stabbing after the party went to NC Central...Durham niggas just don't know how to act LOL

You ever have a conversation with someone from Camden? You can tell the school system is very poor there. The only language they know is "shoot" or "how many". I met this group of girls that used to call theyselves S&S.. I asked what it stood for and they said Stick & Stab. 2 days later they stabbed and poked this girl up to death.. A week later they stabbed up this dude in a liquor store and killed him..

what is it you got against nj? sure we have hoods like any other state. some worst than others. but we also have the most people per capita of any other state (meaning people vwant to live here) and we have the 3rd most educated state in the nation. We also have one of the highest average incomes in the US. Most of NJ is just miles of suburbs/little towns.
