The thing is as duke is not a school most black athletes wanna go to but its just as unappealing to many white athletes! Its not like every white talented athlete comes from trust fund money and goes to the country club every day. The majority of talented white athletes like larry bird come form some hick town growing up poor. exactly. K is, for the most part, gonna recruit guys who can be great college players, great team players but are either too slow or too undersized or don't have a well-rounded enough game to succeed in the NBA. and I'm sure K reminds them of that every day.

It was RARE for players to leave early, so to say he avoided that type of player doesnt make sense...

Chris Webber was the 1st sophmore to be picked #1 since Magic Johnson ...Hell even Shaq stayed 3 years.

Top picks of that time were not only elite collge players, but they all mostly stayed 4 years: Danny Manning, Pervis Ellsion, Derrick Coleman, GP, Danny Ferry- who was the top player in his HS class and went to Duke, so that shyts on ur argument even further

It was AFTER the Fab 5 that coaches had to deal with early departures, in large part to the FAB 5's impact...

but UNC is year in and year out the top school, or one of the top schools, in terms of merchandise sold and they've never (been caught) with basketball violations like this. So its not like what they went through is that much different from other players in that regard. They just couldn't handle it all that well.

I think what ppl are forgetting is that Jalen's feeling were those of a 17/18 year old kid in the early 90's from the hood, second the only recurit that i can say that wasnt a typical black player at duke was Dante Jones, one he was only there cause he was Jay Williams friend and, two he didnt stay long, bottom line Coach K gets the kids he feels will help him win...who care where they are from.

To some, Jalen's generalization of Duke and schools of that ilk (Indiana, Kansas) were the smoke, but to me, the fire is the reality. After ESPN showed the clip the adult Jalen didn't clean up or backpedal from his comments, rather restated his comment more politically correct. He basically said during the time of his recruitment, certain schools only recruited black athletes from a certain tenement: polished black families usually with two parent households.


......Jalen is a fucking clown. He made a questionable statement as a youth...cool. Now as a grown man , to clear it up, you shit on black people? And say that "uncle tom" means that one's family is "polished" and has two have parents?
