Only in Hip Hop would someone be a loser for not being a boss. In Hip Hop, boss is only an image. Anybody can have an imprint. Master P said it best, when he said these rappers just have logo deals. How many of these rappers that are "label heads" actually release music from artists besides themselves. If Busta got in the game just to be a great rapper, why must he be penalized because he isn't Jay Z?

Furthermore, there are people with regular jobs that have been at the job for 15 years+ and are still not bosses. Others have been on the job for far less time and end up moving up in the ranks faster. It doesn't make them any more or less competent than the guy who owns the company or their supervisor for that matter. Besides, it takes a team to make a boss successful.

I don't see why people goin to YMCOONMB that don't fit their brand and or are already established artists. Did mystikal and busta not see how low profile jay millz and corey gunz are promoted in that camp. Outside of nicki drake and wayne nobody else has really been able to have big success if able to release an album at all. Even if you wanna collab with these clowns at least make your own label to seperate yourself from them.

You can't compare Mystikal and Busta to a Jae Millz and Corey Gunz. Mystikal and Busta have released numerous albums and have sustained a career even before YMCMB blew up. They automatically make themselves more of a priority than a Millz, Corey Gunz, Tyga, or Yung Twist because they are established.

But they will not benifit from being on the label. Busta will do busta numbers YMCMB or not and Mystikal hasn't been in the game for over a decade and even he hasn't has much success over a few hot radio songs despite releasing material. The thing is they will not benifit much from signing to a major label. If either dude had an indy label deal where they got more profits it would benifit them more.

The white pop top 40/ black females under 25 that have the largest purchasing power in album sales would be just as likely to buy a lil twist album as a busta or mystikal album. Then niggas gunna flop either way you mine as well make more money and do it without having to do favors for birdman bending over.

These upnorth niggas need to take some classes from these down south rappers on how to be the boss of ya own shyt

This is real talk.

Because NY is one of the entertainment capitals of the world, NY artists didnt' have to do as much. The labels would handle it.

But Southern Artists? For so fucking long, labels weren't venturing down south so Southern niggas had to learn how to grind in the game.

Get the fuck outta here.Busta Rhymes is like 40 years old and he has hold countless hits, plaques and tv/film/commercial apperances.Hes a household name he should be an executive signing people to flipmode. This is a loss unless he is Flipmode/YMCMB and putting out younger guys underneath him.

I don't know why cats even bother with going to major labels, especially when said labels have other huge marquee artists. Busta doesn't have a problem getting a wayne verse because they are cool like that. So he should have just made his own label or went to Koch or E1 or some shit. I understand he's not a huge business shark like Jigga, but damn at least carve your own shit out. Who wants to go to a camp where a bunch of mufuckas are waiting to put their shit out? I guess Busta obviously.

Don't worry about Busta..dudes just got a huge deal with Google Music for his new single and anything with google in front of it always means $$$

It's amazing to see that he is still relevant and respected after nearly 20 years and signed with Ymcmb to keep it that way.

Don't forget that he has tried the boss move twice and failed with the Flipmode squad early in his career (spliff Starr, rah digga) and conglomerate records (J-Doe and reek da Villain) so there was really no point trying again which should answer your question.

Also...Busta was affiliated with Biggie and Bad Boy since the day biggie started (on that heavy d track) so how come Pac didn't throw any shots at him during his beef with Big after dissing mobb deep, jay and nas who werent as close to biggie as busta was back in the day????

These upnorth niggas need to take some classes from these down south rappers on how to be the boss of ya own shyt

The bolded is true as hell

I used to say people like Jadakiss and Busta were too old to not be running their own label, but I realized everyone isn't cut out to run a label.

Most of this world are employees, that's just how it is

Busta tried to run Flipmode, but it didn't work out

This old 45 yr old bastard is keeping himself relevant, similar to Shawn Carter...I can't hate but at the same time Busta been in the game when you sissy ass niggas been in the womb. By the way, Nicki Minaj could outrap anyone in Flipmode excluding Busta and Spliff Starr.
Him making power moves in 2011 >>> your favorite old school rapper

Theres no defending it, but his signed to the real Cashmoney not young money. So his label mates with lil wayne not working for lil wayne like nikki minaj and co.

+

Busta need to go the distribution route and push the indy deal and get his publishing and etc, i think his a fiend for the lime light thats the only reason i can see this stupid move. CMB/YM make news they get coverage and i guess at Busta's age he dont want to end up out of the spotlight.

Me, i would take indy/distribution/set up a label print, get some of these talented producers who on low budget drop a 15+ track album go shoot 4 or 5 videos, get the itunes set up. With Busta's name he dont need no big extraganva marketing campaign his not a new artist he has hits and been deep in the game. hed do possibly 250,000 earning above half on the dollar and be in Baby's pockets but i think this dude just a sucker for the lime light.

Busta's a bitch on this one.

Busta blew all his money on tacky jewelry, leather wife beaters, buffets, and sports cars. smh

Dude is reaching to stay relevant. Funny shit is, the only niggas on YMCMR who will sell albums are Wayne, Drake, and Nicki. Truth!
