while we talking about legends and ducking..its reported that ray leonard ducked aaron pryor when they were both in their primes *shrugs* js

Sugar "I got molested by my coach" Ray Leonard was deathly afraid of Hagler thats why he wanted a bigger ring and why he waited to Marvin wasn't in his prime anymore.

Where you been? Boxing been fell off.

The whole PacMan-Money May saga is the only thing keeping the sport alive at this point.

Peace to the RZA. The GOAT Beatmaker.

i aint a dumb casual boxing fan. You should know that by now.

Mayweather has fought 2nd tier fighters and ducked boxers who he feels might pose a threat to his record.

Remember when Floyd opted to fight Gatti, Corley &

Bruseles instead of kostas,Cotto when he moved to light welterweight?

before we go any further, do u really believe Floyd is top 30 that ever did it?

arum kept cotto away from mayweather cause he claimed cotto was not ready..cotto was on the rise at that time and arum knew he had a gravy train so he didnt want to risk derailing it early.

and floyd fought gatti cause gatti was the man at 140 and the bigger fight it made money sense i also believe the gatti fight was floyd first ppv

Mosley isn't second tier (In 2010 he was still in good condition, especially after the ass whooping he gave Margarito in 2009). Marquez isn't second tier. Victor Ortiz, not exactly great, but he beat Berto's ass and now he has a victory over Cotto. Also, are you trying to base his whole career on the fact that he never fought Kosta? That's ridiculous. Now, let's try this again. Who did he duck?

Mayweather gets hate because in the world of boxing he is a renegade. He is way smarter than all the other boxers because he's the promoter. He's a boss and he does have to worry about his brand. His brand is him

i could of sworn after the corrales ass whooping he called out kostya , casamayor(who at the time was undefeated and considered a top guy) and a bunch of of other top guys

I think the biggest problem with boxing right now is the weight divisons. There are too many belts and too many weight classes. Also they need to put some of their big fight on national television. There was not fucking way I was paying $60 for that fight last night. And lets be honest UFC is more popular and is going to be for popular in the future.

its always some casual fan talking bout boxing fell off

while the regulars be in this thread faithfully, not just for "big" fights

Boxing can never die, there's always going be great fights

The talent pool isn't as ripe as it used to be but their talented guys out there that warrant paying attention to.

Also, Floyd may not be a Leonard, Armstrong, or Duran but he damn sure IS great.

lol @ people saying someone doesn't know boxing just because he doesn't suck Mayweather's dick as well as they do.

Anybody who has followed boxing for years and decades in some cases would tell you that the sport has dropped off, and is far from what it was even as recently as the 90s and early 00s. That's not opinion. That's fact. Are there still good fights from time to time? Yes. Are there still good fighters out there? Yes. But boxing is not the attraction that it once was, and doesn't hold the prominence among pro sports in the U.S. that it once did. The only people who think it does are Mayweather dickriders who can't handle the fact that there are some people that don't think he's as great a fighter as he thinks he is.

The dude is great no doubt. I'm not even going to try to pick a place for him among the greats. I know one thing. He doesn't have the heart they do. Yeah, he's a tough and brave dude. That can be said about anyone who steps into the ring and puts their health on the line. But the greats of the past fought other greats whenever the opportunity arose. They didn't let financial disputes, unfounded doping allegations, and other nonsense get in the way.

I remember an interview with him where someone called him out on suggesting he was better than Sugar Ray Leonard. He defended that claim by saying that he was undefeated and Leonard wasn't. The interviewer pointed out that Leonard fought more tough opponents in their prime and put himself in danger of losing more. Floyd didn't even deny that. He turned around and said Leonard was unwise with his career and didn't consider his brand enough. So basically Floyd admitted to choosing his opponents based on protecting his record. That was from his own mouth, yet his dickriders act like he's always taken all challengers while they were ripe and at their best.

ETHERIAL

People have been saying how boxing is dead or what not but at the end of the day every time Money May or Pacman fights that shit is an event and people tune in to watch. Look at the people in the crowd at a UFC fight and then look at the celebrities at a boxing match and you tell me what sport America enjoys more.

dint gayweather duck Margarito & cotto when they wuz in they prime? Now he usin the steroid excuse in duckin Pacquiao.

the fool is tryna ascend to Greatness by sneakn thru da backdoor. I aint bamboozld by Floyds loud mouth.

@dwade206 now where do you rank Floyd in the top 50? Y u duckin da question? Imo he aint in the top 30.

...and you conveniently "ducked" the fact that you sounded ridiculous when I pointed out it's irrational to say Floyd is ducking fighters because of Kosta Tszyu. Also, Margarito just became a relevant/popular fighter after the Cotto fight in 2008 and he was exposed as a cheater. In regards to Cotto, he's not the same as he was in '07, but he's still a good fighter to this day and Floyd just beat him. So according to your logic, Floyd ducked Cotto because he didn't fight him in 2007 but beat him in 2012 while he's still in good condition. You're not making much sense.

...oh yeah, Floyd is in my top 5.

so we not going talk about cuz saying ufc is more popular ?

we gon dismiss their biggest star at the time, Brock Lesnar(because he brought the wwe crowd) only making about 900,000 for the biggest ufc pay per view event ever
