They want to be the object of desire. I mean if you just watch rap videos, they do paint a picture and television can be definitely be their perception of reality. Also, we live in capitalism and we drink from it daily.

The thing that gets lost all this transforming is its all in the name of Beauty. Kim does all this to be beautiful, yet the result is the exact opposite. Bitch is hideous.

Nah b, couldn't be me. I'm glad I came up before all of this fuckery. Worst a chick might have had back inna day was some titties put in and that was usually reserved for titty dancers. The average chick on the street had zero work done back then. Nowadays these broads straight Lego built.

He always come with these shallow thoughts that he tries to pass off as deep, mostly lecturing women

Missing is the critique or mention of how unrealistic beauty standards are set and enforced by the media or society as a whole, with mostly illusory rewards as the prize

No consideration of the burden, pressure that puts on girls growing up

And I could be mistaken, but i dont remember him making the effort to cast real, natural women in his music videos

But ok....lol

Man shut tha fuck up. It's called SELF-ESTEEM!! IT'S THE ESTEEM OF YO MUTHAFUCKIN SELF!!

i don't even know if I should take you seriously right now

but while self esteem refers to a self judgment, it is built/developed largely by our interactions with the world...meaning this judgment is easily influenced by the way we are treated by others; the media; our parents

think you grew up hearing or being made to feel that whatever you did, how you look wasn’t good enough, how are you supposed to grow into a person with a positive self image?

If any person is dumb enough to follow these wacks ass trends deserves the mental anguish they put on themselves. Burden my ass, yall CHOOSE to support this fuckery.

expound

i will say we all internalize and perpetuate said unrealistic standards of beauty at one time or another

that said, my problem with tyrese is his tone and lack of self awareness/reflection and how he decided to lecture the players with the least amount of influence

though he is prob only trolling

Wtf??? Are u a female??? Aint no straight dude sayin that shit, and if you seen his last video "shame" "stay" doesnt look like he had any build a bitches in those vids, quit reachin and makin shit deeper than it is

Yes, im a lady

You won't find big booty "bitches" twerking and whatnot in his videos

And i liked stay and shame

But the women in the majority of his videos and music videos period didn't just wake up like that either. They sit through hours of hair and makeup. Many of them noticably have had breast augmentations. Colored contacts. Weaves. Nose jobs. They just knew when to stop or had the money to get shit done the "right" way

That influences how many womenm view themselves and the decisions they make

And where's the videos featuring ladies with locks and or other natural hair styles?

Liked how tank and wale featured a slim chick with locks in the last video which i don't think I've ever seen

But yea this isnt his first time jumping on social media to lecture women.... forging concern, when his real concern is book sales...Going for the low hanging fruit ...

I don't take him serious....I think he's really trolling...but it is a serious issue

Women, especially young women, out here are physically harming themselves trying to live up to unrealistic beauty standards

You got a point, and shit, maybe he is trolling.

But I still don't see why people (not saying you specifically but also not not saying you) constantly place celebrities on pedestals and blame them for the bad that other people do. That's that same routine when people blame fast food/porn/video games/books/music/movies/etc.

If women are physically harming themselves trying to live up to unrealistic beauty standards, then is Tyrese and company really to blame? Or are these women adults making bad choices? Honest questions.

The media is always going to push standards, and most of them will be bad standards, but any ultimate choice is still on us.

i do agree ppl have to make better choices, but it is just as important we hold the ppl with the most power and influence accountable

celebrities, the media are incredibly influential..... it would be naïve to say different....

The bolded is the only part of that sentence that was accurate. The media doesn't need celebrities to do anything; a regular moe can be used to influence the public just as effectively.

What I hear most from women is that they do all that bullshit to themselves for their own benefit; to make themselves feel good. If that's the case, then nobody else bears the blame for this bullshit; only the women that believe it takes a fake ass, titties, eyelashes, lips, and alladat other bullshit to be "pretty" to themselves.

celebrities get paid very large sums of money to endorse us products and services for a reason

and you have to dig deeper

why does a woman feel the need to put on a lot of makeup and or get booty injections or fake titties to make urself feel good

is it because prior to that she felt like less a woman and didn't feel as though she could measure up to the women she sees on magazines, videos, movies, etc

or could it be ppl around seem to respond more positively to her presence

as i said before ppl have to make better choices, but it is just as important we hold the ppl with the most power and influence accountable

True, celebs get paid for endorsements, however they're wholly unnecessary.

This week's Bloomberg Businessweek (which I have a subscription to) has an article on how Domino's Pizza has reinvented the brand and made a HUGE leap forward up the ranks of pizza chains. Yes they did some product improvement, but their single biggest source of new business came from their marketing push which had basically ZERO celeb endorsements. People's perception of Domino's was completely changed thanks to the media push, not from paid celebs.

And that's how quite a bit of the public's perception of things is shaped. Yes celeb endorsements are cool and all, but in the marketing world an effective campaign can have more of an impact than a celebrity face next to your product (I worked for one of the biggest ad/marketing companies on the planet for a while, I know this first hand).
