A lot of this can be attributed to the crab mentality. Our entertainers get labels placed on them by our own kind when they reach a certain level of success. We put a ceiling on our own kind, by passively saying that once you attain a certain level of success, you are no longer one of us. It's like we hand them over to white mainstream America. That's basically tearing down someone else once they become successful.

The other thing that happens is that we can preach "carry on tradition" all day, but when someone does something out of the box, we turn a deaf ear or find some type of way to tear that person down for doing something different. We can mourn for a genre that we hear dying, but won't challenge anyone to do something different, but rather stick to the basics. Furthermore, some would rather see it die at least in the mainstream because it doesn't fit their skewed vision of what it should represent.

Of course we turn on them, once they reach a certain level are then become apart of the same system that this thread is about. They help further it.

Look at how many actors, ball players, rappers, actors and actresses go out of their way to get Becky or Ted. Eve, Serena Williams, Ludacris, Kanye, Jaz with his blonde haired pseudo Becky, Micheal Jordan, Ice-T the list goes on and on. So to me the entertainment system has an agenda that wants to phase us out. I don't have a problem with it in a general context but they way they push and promote it there is a conspiratorial element to it. It seems to be a prerequisite in order to make it in the game. There aren't very many who haven't married someone who doesn't look like them. I'm not with this DITB ish either. I don't care how much money Tyler Fairy got, he's gay! I notices he think it's funny to play with God too. There is a verse in the bible where t tells men not to dress like women. That devil can burn in hell with the rest of them for all I care.

So nah homey there is a responsbality that comes with making money regardless of whether or not other people hold their own to any standards. Moving far out gettin with other people, bleaching your skin, getting a nose job, playing a slave etc. won't have me praising you.

is that at this point him and TD Jakes are some of the only directors/producers
only there now that at least cater to the black audience. When we don't have
control over our own shit, it allows people to characterize us as stereotypes or
to have an detachment with them on like horror films just to feel a sense of superiority.

also say that if there's something that you don't particularly like, no one said you

Instead of applauding someone who is successful, we tear them down. If you are going to tear a brother down for making, at least offer an alternative. Without offering an alternative, it comes off as hating and being a crab in a barrel.
