One of my favorite, if not my FAVORITE album of the early 90s...

this is on par with illmatic and infamous and ready to die, in my opinion

pay homage to this classic

If you look in the background somebody fell and busted their ass @ 0:07

I been trying to get my older brother to listen to this album for years. How he never heard it but I did I don't know. I always said this was on par with the infamous, 36 chambers, illmatic, etc.... It's a little overlooked and its sad. Just like dah shinin and nocturnal.

Older heads, how much attention did this album get when it dropped?

Honestly, I remember when it was out. Enta The Stage came out on October 19, 1993 before 36 Chambers and Midnight Marauders which came out on the same day on November 9, 1993. Then Doggystyle dropped two weeks after 36 Chambers and Midnight Marauders on November 23, 1993.

I remember driving in my homies car around that time bumping Enta The Stage. I remember thinking it was ok but Buckshot was yelling and he didn't find his style until the remixes which came the following year.

The remixes and b-sides from the 12"s were better than the actual album itself.

1. I Got Cha Open (remix)/ Killin Every Nigga In Sight (not on the album)

2. Buck Em Down (remix) / Murder MCs (not on the album)

^^^ Those 4 songs are better than anything on the album.

Also, if you were hip to mix tapes at the time, there was nothing better than catching a Bootcamp remix and/or b-side in the middle of a mixtape. Here's what I'm talking about;

This tape was hotter than the Sun when it came out. I can remember chilling at Northeastern University smoking blunts and listening to this tape. If you look at the track listing I Gotcha Open (remix) is on side A and Killin Every Nigga In Sight is on side B.

At least thats how I remember it.

The album was a big deal back then. Everyone around my way had it. It got recognition then. It even got 5 mics in the source.

Enta Da Stage is hardly mentioned and started the resurrection of east coast.

It didn't originally get 5 mics. Maybe when they re-rated it.

This album ushered in the sound that would define the early 90s, in my opinion.

If i remember correctly it got a four or four and a half.

Classic album. This album marked the transition between old school and new school to me. This represented a changing of the guards. Albums that came out after this sounded different than what they sounded before. Back in the 90's that whole BCC was one of my favorite collectives. Everything they dropped was heat. Met most of these n*ggas and they madd cool too.

Dope thread...
