Yo Kendrick . .
You need to do a duet or remix, whatever with that nigga I quoted . .
He fathered your style . .
It ain't a coincidence that your named MTV's Hottest Rapper and then BAM! Who is the very first nigga to jump on a remix with you?
Don't answer that . .
There's just something about a Jay-Z guest verse that make fans and his fellow rappers go crazy. For Kendrick Lamar, his new Hov-assisted "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" remix is a collaboration that he's been looking forward to for a long time and now a week after DJ Young Guru played a snippet of the song during a SXSW set, K-Dot posted the high-powered collaboration on TDE's Soundcloud page on Monday (March 18).
"It's one of them things, you know, you live up to and one of them moments to really challenge yourself and say 'OK, that's how I come in,' " Lamar told MTV News after he wrapped up an interview with Shade 45's "Sway in the Morning" radio show on SiriusXM on Friday. "Always looked up to the greats to be a great. So to actually be on a track with him, it's an accomplishment."
On the track's final verse, Kendrick meets the challenge he set for himself, addressing the naysayers who once told him he couldn't stand among rap's elite. "Picture little ole me giving a f---, on what a f--- n---a gotta sat/N---a you'll never be Jay, never be Nas, never be Snoop nor Dre," he raps sarcastically.
The truth is Lamar has a long way to go before he reaches the musical legacy of the aforementioned, but MTV News' current "Hottest MC in the Game" crown holder has the potential to carve out a storied career based off of the excitement surrounding his almost-platinum debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, and the new track only adds to his growing stat sheet
Jay-Z, on the other hand, remains his majestic self with a classic performance where he reminds listeners of his rap stature, accumulated wealth and political ties. "Empty my memory bank/ It's a million dollars in it, baby, Hillary Swank/ Sitting next to Hillary, smelling like dank, presidential pardon/ name one n---a out there harder than him, I'll wait," he rhymes with a veteran's confidence - MTV.com
