hit the hip bone and ricocheted dunny. Same shit happened to Pac. Bullet hit his right hip & traveled up to his lung where it got lodged. I've wondered for the longest why Big wasn't on point with his personal security. Puffy had his guard (Gene Deal) strapped and sitting right behind him when he left that party. Big was riding with his boys from Brooklyn, and none of them had a piece. He really was a sitting duck in that truck; nowhere to go, and no way to protect himself. It just seems too easy, how the shooter took him down. So sad.

I also didn't know that Michael Ckarke Duncan (RIP) used to security for artist in the industry. I read somewhere that he was supposed to be BIG's bodyguard that night but his assignment got switched to Babyface instead.

You're right that there wouldn't have been any guarantees, but a few variables might've saved Big if he'd had protection. For one, Puffy's bodyguard (Gene Deal) said he believed the guy who killed Big was the same guy shadowing Puffy as he left the Petersen, and Gene claimed to have made eye contact with the dude, and flashed his pistol to make him step off. The reports said the shooter made eye contact with Big when he pulled up alongside him; perhaps to assess the situation, and see if Big had protection like Puffy did. If Big had some form of protection, the shooter might've thought it too risky to let off on him, since he may have been blasted himself by Big's guard.
