Prior to TPAB and Dark Sky Paradise Big sean was corny and cheesy and kendrick's songs and flow seemed authentic and inspirational.

Since then on TPAB and untiled/unmastered i feel like Kendrick seems to be trying too hard lyrically. He has some of the eminiem effect where people hear him rap fast about nothing and get tricked into thinking he killed it. He still ha dope bars mixed in but much of it is filler fast talk. Not to mention Kendrick feels like a rent an activist in TPAB. Before that his social commentary felt more authentic on GKMC or Section 80 (and more personal).

As far as big sean he actually has real life shit he has spit about in his last 2 projects and seemed to just be having fun. Not to mention there are songs for many different occasions on Seans last 2 projects. It's not all mumbo jumbo spit fast bullshit about nothing.
