what im asking is how is mixtapes the wrong way tho? ok they dropped albums and less mixtapes back then.. different times, u could also rap for an exec. or be featured on a song and get signed back then also, that aint work for krit, so he showed his ass on free albums that can easily hang with "real albums" and got his buzz up, the dopest mixtape may never be aquemini or illmatic, but it will be the dopest mixtape, and at the end of the day, it is a body of music that can be enjoyed thoroughly, regardless of title. dedication 2 of course isnt the same as illmatic, does that mean a person cant like d2 more, just cuz of the title "mixtape", i think not.

So a song like UGK's, "One Day You Gone" or Snoop's, "Gin And Juice", wouldn't be classics had they not gotten clearance? You don't judge music off a technicality or it being free.

The only thing a sample clearance represents is authorization of use from the owner. It was still a good song regardless of the clearance. An uncleared classic song. And a cleared sample is still a classic off of someone else music. And if it's just the principle of the matter, that doesn't change what the song tangibly is either. So that logic is flawed.

You don't use a receipt and PO number to judge the impact of music. And where you purchase it don't matter either, long as it's official. Some opt to not let Amazon, Itunes, or other big stores dig into the profits and sell it themselves elsewhere.
