the oddest sports story ever

And its kind of sad that its odd. More professional athletes should be using their own recipes to eat instead of looking for a piece or somebody else's pie.

I would agree if he was proven. Its odd because hes still amature and his daddy is his mouthpiece so far in his career.

Yeah, but they still get some respect for trying to do their own thing this early in. He can still fall back and do it the way niggas have been doing it before, too. But at least they're taking a shot.

Shit, even if he'd have sold 1 pair, that's $495 more than I got right now.

$150 k in a day, no help is nothing to brush off. That nigga getting it. Lavar earned some respek this week.

Maybe, maybe not. Somebody has to make these shoes, that's why he went to the big names(nike, adidas, reebok). None of them bought in so I'm assuming he had to go a cheaper route, let's see how that trend goes in the future.

Good hustle

He's hurting his brand too. And Lonzo has to ball crazy for this brand to take off

How is this hurting his brand?

Work hard, go for yours, don't take no for an answer....that's the brand I see them trying to build so how does this hurt...You don't think Lonzo knows he has to ball out..

I would have more respect for the move if we didnt already know he gonna be signed to nike or Adidas in a couple months

Its a get rich quick hustle for someone who dont need it. Just hurting his actual brand in the long run.

Like dude above me said. If he dont ball like Jordan rookie year nobody gonna buy into his hype his own daddy set for him before he ever got drafted.

Yeah, but at least they took a shot. These other niggas just jumped right into being owned. If Lonzo is taking care or business on the court then all of that money is coming regardless.

You say its good he took a shot.

But hes turning people off of his son at the same time.

Possibly costing him money from when he actually signs to a real Brand.

There is no room for error in young Lozos career now.

Chips are all in. Thanks to daddy and his mouth

Personally I like what he's doing. He's creating a status symbol. All it'll take is a few celebrities and athletes to post them to their instagrams and they'll be alright (shit if I was them I'd send some celebrities a free pair for them to post them).

There's all type of Jordans, Lebron, etc for ppl to buy who don't wanna drop 500 for these shoes but he's likely still gonna turn a vicious profit.

Nobody complains that Porsche doesnt make an economy car so why complain if the shoe is not affordable......just buy a different shoe.

(For the record I wouldn't spend my $$$ on them, not a sneaker guy)

At least they ain't doing no sucker shit trying fit on to anyone else's brand, that's why they made their own. Their shit taking off would only make them respect it even more lol.

The free promotion he is getting is what I'm hearing on the Dan Lebetard show is equivalent to 50 million dollars

He probably had to go a more expensive route hence the price tag. None of the big companies will ever buy in. Regardless. This shit is terrifying to nike. No one is getting in the sport shoe industry without millions behind them and even then its an uphill battle.

I didn't respect it when lavar went to nike talking about "growing his brand" cause it seemed he was essentially doing what Kanye was doing years back and begging to be down. With nothing to really offer besides his name.

So far I've seen a good looking shoe, and I've seen him push a brand off to a decent start and instantly create capital in a tough market.

Now he's put alot on his kids talent so if lonzo comes out stiffing the brand will he in a rough spot. Lol. One of his sons ideally has to blow up huge for this to have a true shot. Thats what Lavar is betting on. Nike praying lonzo fucks his ankle up or his foot bust out the side of the shoe. Cause what happens when the next Lebron's father is on that shit.

Gotta respect the hustle if nothing else. He can very possibly change the shoe game as we know it.

The price point combined with the Nov delivery date and no return policy leads me to believe BBB probably has a very small inventory of shoes on hand.

I'm watching the last Sport Reporters right now, and Mitch Albom in his opening comments, that they do before the main conversation, said that (i'm paraphrasing) "America needs not to buy Lavar Ball's shoes, to teach him a lesson."

Teach him a lesson? As in a " know your place boy" type of lesson? Nah. I don't believe half of Lavar Ball had to say, and I thought he was out of bounds on a few things. But, one thing I can't knock him for is trying to put his sons in a position were they can have their own.

"Mainstream" America is so perturbed about a outspoken black man who deigns to buck any part of the establishment. He may not succeed, but he might end up allowing the next generational talent to do the same and make something like this a reality...
