Jay E said he didn't know Kdot was on the song

Did Sean know? cuz he sure as hell seem like some ol 'Jay Z on renagade' ass nigga of the situation

kendrick supposedly recorded his verse last and sean actually did some real nigga shit and not go back and rewrite his shit like a lot of niggaz would have lol

I bet if he had it to do all over again knowing the responce this shit was gonna generate he woulda checked of took his verse off the shit and let J Elect catch it for dolo

That would be fuk up if he did that.

If we're asking who is the better MC, who is the more lyrical and more talented man on the mic? It's Jay. He's got bars for days and he does it like he's not even trying.

Who has the better discography? Jay. He has multiple albums worth of material. I've got playlists of Jay of up to 50-60 songs I'd much rather listen to than Kendrick's.

Who is the better artist? Jay. Until Kendrick makes something as great and inventive as "Act I: The Eternal Sunshine" and "Dimethyltryptamine," then he's not really seeing Jay ElecHanukkah on the artistry side of things. Kendrick is definitely an artist, but Jay's a great artist in the classical sense of the word. He's a great artist in the same sense that Basquiat was a great artist. He makes challenging, complex, deep, ingenious and introspective art.

Who is the lazier artist? Jay. I can't deny that. But Stanley Kubrick only made 9 feature length films over the span of 40 years. Is he any less of a genius for that? No. Terrence Malick has only made 6 since like the 70s, but he's no less of an artist. Woody Allen averages one movie every single year. He's more prolific, but so what? It's quality not quantity. You can't quantify art. It's not about sport statistics.

As for the "Control" joint, I thought Kendrick had a great verse, but the best lines on the whole song came from Jay:

You could check my name on the books

I Earth, Wind, and Fire’d the verse, then +Rained (reigned)+ on the hook

The legend of Dorothy Flowers proclaimed from the roof

The tale of magnificent king who came from the nooks

Of the wild magnolia, mother of many soldiers

We live by every single word she ever told us

Watch over your shoulders

And keep a tin of beans for when the weather turns the coldest

The Lord is our shepherd, so our cup runneth over

Put your trust in the Lord but tether your Chevy Nova

I’m spittin' this shit for closure

And God is my witness, so you could get it from Hova

For all you magicians that’s fidgeting with the cobra

I’m silent as a rock, ‘cause I came from a rock

That’s why I came with a rock, then signed my name on the Roc

Draw a line around some Earth, then put my name on the plot

Cause I endured a lot of pain for everything that I got

The eyelashes like umbrellas when it rains from the heart

And the tissue is like an angel kissin you in the dark

You go from blind sight to hindsight, passion of the Christ

Right, to baskin' in the limelight, it take time to get your mind right

Jay Electricity, PBS mysteries

In a lofty place, tangling with Satan over history

You can’t say shit to me - Alhamdulillah

It’s strictly by faith that we made it this far

And for the record, I think Kendrick Lamar is a great rapper and I like his music a lot, but I am going with Jay all the way on this one.

Lyric for lyric man, Electronica > Kendrick but yet it's very close, at least more so than others make it out to be. As far as execution goes, they both tailor their music to suit different things. Kendrick likes to paint pictures while telling stories, Jay offers insight into life overall, MC's who are like Jay aren't good for the entertainment factor as people really often tune out people who kick the knowledge, it's sad but true. Kendrick is explosive and he brings an energy to his shit that draws people in, yet he's enlightening about it all at the same time. However as far as actual lyrical content it really is J.E by a slim margin, when it comes to being the better rapper, you give it to the person with the better content, discography in that regard is irrelevant. That said, J.E needs to put more shit out, and this is coming from a HUGE Kendrick stan.

You already know who I'm picking. Jay Electronica is on some other shit when he raps. He lowkey killed his verse on Control without knowing about that Kendrick Lamar verse. And for the people who say Kendrick can't rap, he is the forerunner of the current lyricist movement. I will admit, my favorite rapper is lazy(or caught up in some illuminati shit, who knows) but if/when he releases that album, its going to be amazing.

And for the people that say he doesnt have an album, I don't want to hear yall ever say Andre 3000 is the GOAT.

and Ill leave this youtube collab with Kendrick and Jay Elect here

There's a difference between having zero albums and not having a solo album.

Jay Elec not even close. Kendrick babbles on the mic

Why niggas gotta always take shit too far? Lol

He definitely has snapped on a couple songs but I feel like as a rapper that's statistically bound to happen at least a couple times. Mostly all of his features have been trash tho. Please prove me wrong, I wanna like dude more, I really do

who judges any artist off of their guest features though?

"Yo Michael Jackson is wack. I just heard his feature on Janet's new album"

"Have you heard Thriller though? or Bad?"

"Nah just that one feature"

Easily Kendrick it's not even close. Kendrick is entertaining while Jay Electrionica is boring Kendrick's lyrics, hooks, flow, delivery are far superior to Jay Electronica who lacks being able to do hooks or ability to rhyme with depth but be entertaining at the same time. There's no way Jay is gonna be able to ever sell platinum like Kendrick did or get anywhere near to those sales G.K.M.C album did. Jay will never be able to sell good numbers or have hit's.

Once you get past the fact the Kendrick called everyone out by name there is nothing that really makes his verse much better than jay elects on Control

when did I vote for kendrick lol? I wanna change my vote to Jay Elect. Kendrick arguably has a classic album while Jay has none, but Jay Elect is a nicer MC to me
