I don't even gotta vote to know nas probably killing in this poll....I mean it is a nas poll in the IC after all....

Nigga just vote, its actually extremely close a few votes difference.

Listen to Handcuffs, Failure, Theme Music to a Drive-by, Ignorant Shit, American Terrorist, Spray-Paint and Ink Pens, and Trials & Tribulations

I believe Lupe Fiasco is currently in his prime lyrically and Tetsuo &Youth is mind blowing. My criticism of him has always been he didn't rhyme with passion and aggression. He had that detached, passive-aggressive wit common of his generation of rappers. This is the first album that has rectified that in my opinion.

He needs about 7 more.

yo seriously, Lupe shouldnt be going over your heads. there isnt shit that hard to understand on food and liquor, the cool or his other albums. you niggas that slow? I can understand tetuso taking a few listens but jesus

Nas is a top tier lyricsist. Another element to his lyricism is the way it comes across as poetic. It's beautiful. Nobody has ever painted a picture like Nas. I like Life is Good better than T & Y, but it's because Nas is more personal, and reaches people better, it's easier to listen to. When it comes to lyrics, and i'm talking strictly lyrics, there is no experience like listening to Lupe Fiasco. This nigga is a fuckin nebula of lyrics, multis, different flows, quadruple entendres, story telling, punchlines, metaphors, metaphors that span entire songs, entire albums, wordplay and patterns that connect back 2 verses. It's the ultimate lyrical experience. Nas' style is more poetic, more beautiful, that Let Nas down verse over cole's joint almost brought a nigga to tears. But when I put my headphones on and want to have fun listening, I listen to lupe. It's like a Lamborghini Vs a phantom. Both great experiences, one is more hands on. you can't drive that lambo everyday because it gets uncomfortable, and the other presents an ambiance like no other. When it comes to the lyrics, I've never heard anything like Lupe Fiasco. Ever.

Listen to this shit... Nobody can do this.

but Nas' poetic lyricism >> Lupes super technical style IMO.

Lupe rapping in codes and metaphor doesn't make it better to me.

lupe is a better lyricist, But nas is a better rapper. Nas impacts me harder than any rap artist ever can.

No disrespect to nas though but he's not on lupe's level lyrically.

It's really a matter of preference for the day. I'm about to go out in the snow and pay bills n shit. If I play Life is Good and Stillmatic back to back, i'll be home before I even realize I was out. If we get a million inches of snow again and I won't go out, i'll put on the headphones and fuck wit lupe for hours on end. They're both in my top 5, lovin em both ain't a zero sum game. But when it comes to the lyrics, Lupe has no peer, i'll stand by that until somebody eclipses it.

Yea but he wasn't really getting any love on his 2 releases before Tetuso.

Lasers was trash & F&L2 was forgettable for the most part.

Now he drops an album thats put together like a Suduko puzzle and people are back on his nuts.

Idk who these people you're talking about that just "jumped on his nuts" or why that's even relevant to what I said but that whole complex title was being said before this new album even came out

2 different weight classes, and Lupe is super hit or miss.

Lupe says shit like:

I'm back at cha, and I Pac like cap backwards

Like a hat's backwards, you know, when the bats backwards

Yeah, like a bat catchers

The law gotta long arm like a back scratcher

But before I leave mine at home

Like a bad catcher

It's like, we get it, you're trying to show wordplay and throw a little cheap metaphor in there, but that shit was meh at best. Step ya cadence up.

Where Nas spits straight gems:

If money's ya religion sky the limit live life

Numbers is big business makes the poor live trife

The glimmers of hope provoke those without dollars to dream

Through your existence become wealthy, knowledge is king
