No disrespect to the world's most dangerous group, but Enter the 36 Chambers is, in my opinion, better! "Straight Outta Compton" definitely starts out strong, but I thought that many songs on the album were not as memorable or that great at all ("Something 2 Dance 2", anyone?). As well, it was obvious that Ice Cube was the strongest lyricist of the bunch, while Ren and Eazy were not as good. Even most of their good verses were probably written by Ice Cube! On Enter the 36 Chambers, there were 9 emcees (well, technically 7, since Masta Killa was only on one song and U-God was hardly present at all) ripping the mic, song after song, and with that, there was more variety, and each emcee brought their best, and I felt only one or two songs were not that great. Production-wise, "Straight Outta Compton" did stand on it's own, and Dre and Yella should definitely get props for their thumping beats, but ultimately, I think Enter the 36 provided a sound that was perfected in it's grittiness and every song sounds like a well-crafted musical gem.
Definitely "Enter the 36" for me.
