Find your son a new crowd to hang out with. Defending himself is important but why put him in in an environment where he constantly has to fight?

True the only problem is that they live on our street and he likes playing out there, how do I tell him he can't go on his own street and play? I will be keeping him away as much as I can on the plus side he takes a punch really well I just want him to swing back! he is a good hearted boy maybe we gave him too many cuddles, but I don't want my boy being hit I feel like running out there and drop kicking a 12 year old in the mouth.

I would not make my son relocate.

it sets the precedent that it's OK to run.

I wouldn't recommend this either because it doesn't olve the initial problem and could add a new problem.

Wrestling or boxing

both these will make them hesitant but if it's enough of them...they might try to jump him to not get they ass kicked fighting alone.

an talking to the moms can be an option but don't expect sympathy from a bitter woman who's son appears to be on the winning side.

best option is boxing, a few ER visits and a long summer.

after that he'll be ok

I'm not sure about this, especially if it isn't that serious. It's not always feasible to pick your child's friends. And boys gotta learn how to defend themselves sooner or later; besides, its inevitable. Like others have said, you can't run all the time.

As for the thread's question, I've learned that boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and/or wrestling are all good choices. Just make sure you have good people training him. And remember, it might not just be all about combat, offense, and beating people up. Technique, defense, and discipline are among other values that are also important and necessary.

Martial Arts

Not for fighting but to teach him to be strong and disciplined

He needs to learn to stand up for himself.

Exactly he needs to let his hands go but at first he needs to learn how to punch the way he does it now is sloppy and dangerous for him, I have tried teaching him some boxing but he is very hyper and it's hard to teach him although his attention is improving his school work is improving alot too, gonna have a look online for local boxing clubs so we can go together, I have a good boxing brain but maybe if we go to a club he will focus better and I can learn some new tricks at the same time.

before anyone says it...

all people are not teachers an have patience.

an often time...the message is better receive from someone you are not see eager to impress

Jiu-Jitsu or Wrestling.

I've done all the combat sports. Wrestling is the toughest and will definitely build the most character.

Boxing is tough but you can get all the benefits that a tough sport builds without all the concussions.
